yeah, does anyone know why they sent the email out yesterday?
maybe i am just completely unaware, but i wasnt expecting it until monday.
it was a complete shock

congratulations to those who were accepted!
and my fellow rejectees, im so sorry

Strange story… So yesterday morning, my mom found a penny on the staircase going down to our basement, but it was tails up (“unlucky”) so I told her not to touch it. Of course I wasn’t expecting decisions to be released last night, but I’m still extremely superstitious and didn’t want to ruin anything for Monday. Then today, after getting my rejection e-mail, the penny was gone. Literally nowhere.

Surprisingly, I’m not as upset as I thought that I would be… Getting in the rest of my applications is going to be a struggle in the next two weeks, but I’m slightly motivated by the idea of going to another great college and having my “haha, sucker” moment when I cure cancer someday or when Stanford’s not part of my acceptance speech when I win the Nobel Prize. ;)

We all have so much to be proud of, and so much more to look forward to. I, for one, cannot wait to see what happens next…

Wow this is so wierd. My school had 2 kids apply to Stanford SCEA and both of them were accepted. One is my best friend and we were just hanging out at his house when he got the e-mail. It was totally unexpected. I’m from the east coast btw if it matters. Neither of them had amazing stats either compared to some of the kids who posted their stats and were rejected/deferred. Wierd

What are you talking about the “boards”? Where are you finding these numbers. I got in, but I didn’t know it was a stanford slaughter? What happened!?

Read through the whole SCEA decisions thread and see how many deserving candidates received a rejection, to get a sense of the slaughter and complete arbitrary nature of the acceptances.

@ luckystars - I admire your humor and down-to-earth personality. I totally agree with you, and may we all go to great, amazing colleges, and someday Stanford. :D

Looking over these boards, seeing all the amazing people who got rejected, it doesn’t make me feel as awful. I mean, we can’t really help what the adcom’s decide, or how they do it. Without the HY ED’s this year, Stanford was definitely going to take a ED hit on applications, and the economic crisis doesn’t help.

So there’s bound to be many reasons why a rejection letter came, but it has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with how “good” we are. We played the game, and we got “slaughtered” (oh yes, I cried…bitterly.)

Good luck to everyone! I’m sure that someone will see what Stanford missed! :)
