“Not true. Many more Christians believe in evolution than don’t. And many important leaps in evolutionary theory have been made by devout Christians and Catholics.”

Ah well that just shows you Im not one to get into this argument hehe

It’s okay, it seems to be a common belief amongst Christians and non-Christians alike. From what I can gather, it’s only remotely true in the US, where creationism and ID are particularly strong.

As a Mormon, I would just like to agree with the previous posters in saying that my religion DOES believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Christ is the central focus of our religion. We believe that He is the LITERAL Son of God. However, we do not believe in the Trinity–the three in one nature of God. We believe that God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings. They are of one mind, and no one of them would ever say/do anything that one of the others wouldn’t do. We believe that Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. Everything revolves around Him.

Buddhists:
1.) Siddharta Gautama never rejected the idea of a God. So why are Budduists atheist? How can you belive in nirvana but not a higher being?

-> Buddhism isn’t a religion. To some (minority) it is a religion, but to most - it is not. Buddhists are atheist? Since when? Buddhists aren’t looking for a ‘higher power’ or whatever. The main goal is to apply Buddha’s teachings in order to cleanse the mind and attain enlightenment.

Buddhism is considered a religion by most, I imagine. Why do you think this label is improper, chocholateisgood?

It’s certainly considered a religion in Japan…

Buddhism is not a religion. Dont try to make it sound special, because Buddism is nothing but a joke.

Oh boy, just what CC needs. Another ■■■■■!

All religions are jokes.

All atheists are jokes.

The only ■■■■■■ in this thread are the atheists. This thread was intended for theists.

Atheists ruin everything, from this all-good thread to society itself.

Buddhists aren’t necessarily atheists though, so explain your reasoning that “Buddhism is a joke.”

This guy hardly deserves another response, honestly.

Good, you’re not even worthy to repond to me.

Go worship Satan (or w/e you people do) and let us learn more about other faiths.

What? Can’t stand a different opinion? You have yet to contribute anything of value or knowledge to this thread.

What…the…hell?

Just stop, The Spank King…

And w1cked, stop flamebaiting. You know you are.

Buddhism is a religion to some - i.e. Buddhist monks and many people in east asian cultures.
to others, such as myself, it’s a philosophy, a teaching.

A reason why some people don’t consider it to be a religion is because there’s no deity, such as the ones present in most major religions.

Well, that’s true, but I would contend that in a similar way religions are within the category of “philosophy” in the sense you just used. Do you disagree?

spank king, how do atheists ruin society? ( by the way I’m catholic so…yeah, I’m not an atheist but I respect them). As far as I know the only people that ruin society are the unjust, evil people, and I know tons of religious people who fit both of these categories as I also know atheists who are some of the most morally correct people I’ve ever met. Stop stereotyping unless you want to be stereotyped as well. No atheist likes being called " a society ruiner" as you state, in the same way theists don’t like being called religious fanatics. live and let live dude.

megaman,

I once broke an antfarm, so I guess I ruined that society.

lol. O dear god, the poor ants, they must have thought the big bad atheist had brought about the end of the world. hahaha
