Here : honor English and biology and Math 3 are marked NH but honor chemistry is marked " HL"
I heard it from Elite SAT prep center. He is expert
Yes, because the Honors Biology and Honors English did not get the UC approval to be designated as Honors.
My kids went to a California HS which had the same designations.
Honors English and Biology were not UC approved for Honors. Honors Chemistry, Physics and Pre-Calculus were UC approved for Honors along with all the AP classes.
Yes. So capped GPA wasnât correct . Because it doesnât recognize this.
When you apply to UC. You put in the school name and info. UC application automatically has in its data base what classes you school offers.
If âHLâ did not appear on its list â it is not approved. No way to change that. UC then calculates the GPA from what you input.
It automatically appears on application. We didnât write anything
@cy7878 is 100% correct.
Correct. So whatever GPA is calculated. Itâs automatic. Your âhonorâ classes were not really honors if you didnât get the designation or GPA boost.
I donât know what is correct. When we wrote down the level appeard automatically.
Yes. I told it
Type in the name of your HS here and you will get the correct designations:
I donât know well.
I just heard from Elite prep administrator. He early stated about this system no matter what my high school system. Because orange county public high schools education systems are similar . I called Irvine district if they are different from us. But they and we have same policies under California Education guidelines. As Elite administrator told me, uc application decides level of each courses
If my explanation might not be enough. however exactly uc application and his statement were same.
I think you are right.
But it doesnât matter now because your kid got in.
Did you check your High School courses against what was reported on the UC application? That is the only way to know if your HSâs course designations are the same as what was reported on the UC application.
As @cy7878 stated, it is moot since your student was accepted.
Also UC admissions will know which courses are UC approved for Honors especially for the CA HSâs. Some students when entering courses do make mistakes so that would have been corrected during the application review.
I have yet to see a HS where Algebra Honors is UC weighted.
Seems like whatâs being said is the maximum a-g coursework is very important
May be happened
I donât understand what this means.
Look up your HS here: University of California A-G Course List
Does Algebra Honors (or Algebra II Honors) have a star next to it?
I donât care as much about what a private counselor or your HS said, I would like to know if, on the UC website, Algebra is listed as honors.
