Ranting a bit here too…
This forum is honestly one of the most hopeless forums I have ever been to.
I’ll take a minute here to say, I really don’t hate CollegeConfidential. It is a great forum in many aspects, and it really helped me to clear up many of the misconceptions about college.

But seriously people, the AVERAGE ACT score is 19. 19! People come in here with 34’s and REPEATEDLY get told they will probably not be accepted so some schools. I know there are some exceptions. I mean, at MIT, Harvard, Yale and the like you simply cannot base off of score because that is all the school takes.

What’s worse is when I see replies that say students CANNOT get into a school because of their race, gender etc. Most people aren’t admission reps- they don’t know what a school wants. And yes, maybe the stats say that a low percentage of ORM’s get in. But still, some get in.

I’m lucky enough to have higher than average test scores. And to be honest, I can’t imagine coming onto this forum wanting advice with anything less than that. As the OP said, people here have forgotten what a good score is. Please, take a step back and think about it. Of course I know that a lot of kids will need to be told a hard truth about their scores. But expecting every student here to come in with a 2100+ SAT is insane.
