^^She won’t change doctors? Oh my, that must be incredibly difficult for you!
^^ It is. Her view is she’s dying now anyway, so why bother. I feel fortunate she’s lived for 2 1/2 years after being told she had less than a year. I give credit to the fact that she’s never been a smoker or in a smoking environment and the cancer she has is a “smoker’s” cancer (no clue how she got it). My guess is smokers have hurt other parts of their body from their habit. But the cancer is a terminal one once it hits Stage IV and we appear to be very close to the end at this point. We have a little relief from meds that have suppressed seizures at least, but there’s that prescription thing again - and the hospitalization/tests to determine what had gone wrong. I gather a “better” doctor (according to some) would just let her lose her mind until she’s gone, esp since she’s near the end anyway. It wasn’t the horrid doctor who figured out the seizures vs stroke as everyone thought at first. It was her oncologist and a neurologist using tests. I like having my mom back mentally even if her body has failed. She likes being back mentally too. Some horrors can get worse.
