Hi jaymarie731

I forwarded your question to our Theatre department and received the following answer:

"The audition requirements quoted are for the Activity Grant (Scholarship) auditions. There is NO AUDITION to become a B.A. in Drama.

We hold auditions for the B.F.A. in Theater Arts in the student’s sophomore year. Students may not apply to Hofstra for the B.F.A. program, all students who declare a drama major start as B.A. students.

We do not have an emphasis on Musical Theater in the B.F.A. in Performance, however, we do have a minor in Musical Theater that students can take in addition to the B.F.A. (or B.A.) to give them musical theater training.

The contrasting pieces, means either a monologue and a musical piece, or two monologues of contrasting styles – comedy/drama, classical/contemporary etc."

I hope this clears things up for you. Please let know if you have any further questions
