Check out this old thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/899192-brown-theater.html?highlight=theatre

At least in my limited experience with the theatre scene at other schools, Brown has the most dynamic and expansive line-up of performing arts groups. The sheer number of small shows (in production workshop’s upstairs space, Hillel, etc.) and staged readings is staggering. A lot of theatre at Brown is the result of a few friends with an idea, who put together a show without being part of a group. I saw over 100 shows during my time at Brown, and I still feel like I missed out on a lot.

My little non-profit has started trying to keep a reasonably complete list of performing-arts student groups, with links to websites, here: [Open Jar Foundation | Performing Arts at Brown](http://www.openjar.org/performing-arts-at-brown) . You also might want to check out the Brown Daily Herald’s old theater reviews, since they will tell you a more detailed story about shows that have gone up in the past.
