They call him Flipper! Flipper!

<p>Hello world, hear the song that we’re singin’
C’mon get happy.
A whole lot of lovin’ is what we’ll be bringin’
We’ll make you happy.</p>

<p>Five of us, and Mom workin’ all day
We knew we could help if our music would pay
And Danny got groovin’ to sell our song
And it really came together when Mom sang along</p>

<p>Come on down and hear what we’re playing
We’ll make you happy
C’mon get happy</p>

<p>Oh, why not… :D</p>

<p>"Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.</p>

<p>And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man
Like Herbert Hoover again.</p>

<p>Didn’t need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days."</p>

<p>Here we come
Walkin down the street
Get the funniest looks form
Everyone we meet</p>

<p>Hey, Hey we’re the Monkees</p>

<p>Scout59, I’ll have you know that the first rock (?) concert I ever attended was the Monkees! And we had floor seats! OK, I know you’re really impressed now.</p>

<p>Diamonds, Daisies, Snowflakes,
That Girl
Chestnuts, Rainbows, Springtime…
Is That Girl
She’s tinsel on a tree…
She’s everything that every girl should be!</p>

<p>Sable, Popcorn, White Wine,
That Girl
Gingham, Bluebirds, Broadway…
Is That Girl
She’s mine alone, but luckily for you…
If you find a girl to love,
Only one girl to love,
Then she’ll be That Girl too…
That Girl!</p>

<p>This thread inspired me to go on You Tube. So many of them are there. How much did I love “The Rifleman” and anything with Chuck Connors in it. </p>

<p>My childhood guilty pleasure and one of the worst programs ever on the tube…</p>

<p>Love, Love, Love </p>

<p>Love, American Style,
Truer than the Red, White and Blue.
Love, American Style,
That’s me and you. </p>

<p>And on a star spangled night my love, (My love come to me).
You can rest you head on my shoulder.
Out by the dawn’s early light, my love
I will defend your right to try. </p>

<p>Love, American Style,
That’s me and you.</p>

<p>Come and knock on our door…
We’ve been waiting for you…
Where the kisses are hers and hers and his,
Three’s company too.</p>

<p>Actually, Mountain - I AM impressed! In my elementery school we used to argue over which Monkee (Davey!) and which Partridge (Keith, of course!) were the most swoon-able. And don’t get me started with Bobby Sherman.</p>

<p>Anyone remember this one from a deservedly short-lived show:</p>

<p>Everybody knows in a second life, we all come back sooner or later.
As anything from a pussycat to a man eating alligator.
Well you all may think my story, is more fiction than it’s fact.
But believe it or not my mother dear decided she’d come back.</p>

<p>As a car…
She’s my very own guiding star.
A 1928 Porter.
That’s my mother dear.
'Cause she helps me through everything I do
And I’m so glad she’s near.</p>

<p>My Mother the Car.
My Mother the car.</p>

<p>Oh, all right, I can’t resist. (As the Partridge Family song is now swirling around my brain… Thanks a lot ShesOnHerWay) Since Petticoat Junction is already up, how’s this? Memories of psychedelic times. (It was either this one or the identical cousins.)</p>

<p>Once upon a summertime just a dream from yesterday
A boy & his magic golden flute heard a boat from off the bay
“Come and play with me, Jimmy. Come and play with me.
And I will take you on a trip far across the sea.”</p>

<p>But the boat belonged to a kooky old witch who had in mind the flute to snitch.
From her broom broom in the sky she watched her plans materialize.</p>

<p>She waved her wand. The beautiful boat was gone
The skies grew dark. The sea grew rough
And the boat sailed on and on and on and on and on and on…</p>

<p>But Pufnstuf was watching too. And knew exactly what to do
He saw the witch’s boat attack. And as the boy was fighting back</p>

<p>He called his rescue racer crew. As often they’d rehearsed
And off to save the boy they flew. But who would get there first?</p>

<p>But now the boy had washed ashore. Puf arrived to save the day
Which made the witch so mad and sore. She shook her first and screamed away.</p>

<p>H.R. Pufnstuf, who’s your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, can’t do a little cause he can’t do enough.
H.R. Pufnstuf, who’s your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, can’t do a little cause he can’t do enough.</p>

<p>The Bugs Bunny Overture</p>

<p>Overture, curtains, lights, this is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part we know every part by heart</p>

<p>Overture, curtains, lights this is it, you’ll hit the heights
And oh what heights we’ll hit on with the show this is it</p>

<p>Tonight what heights we’ll hit on with the show this is it.</p>

<p>There’s a hold up in the Bronx,
Brooklyn’s broken out in fights.
There’s a traffic jam in Harlem
That’s backed up to Jackson Heights.
There’s a scout troup short a child,
Kruschev’s due at Idlewild
Car 54, Where Are You?</p>

<p>Sunday, Monday, Happy Days,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days,
Thursday, Friday, Happy Days,
Saturday, what a day,
Rockin all week with you.
This day is ours
Won’t you be mine. (Oh Happy Days)
This day is ours (Oh Happy Days)
Oh please be mine.
Hello sunshine, goodbye rain,
She’s wearing my high school ring on her chain.
She’s my steady, I’m her man,
I’m gonna love her all I can.
(Chorus)
Gonna cruise her round the town,
Show everybody what I’ve found
Rock’n’roll with all my friends
Hopin’ the music never ends.
These Happy Days are yours and mine (oh Happy Days)
These Happy Days are yours and mine (oh Happy Days)
These Happy Days are yours and mine, Happy Days</p>

<p>scout59 - I saw Bobby Sherman in concert!</p>

<p>The bluest sky you’ve ever seen, in Seattle.
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle.
Like a beautiful child
Growing up, free and wild.
Full of hopes and full of fears,
Full of laughter, full of tears,
Full of dreams to last a year
In Seattle. </p>

<p>When you find your own true love you will know it
By his smile, by the look in his eyes.
Some set pine trees in the air
Or some stand around and stare
Look out everyone, Here Come the Brides. </p>

<p>A few years back I was browsing through the sheet music at a used book store and found the theme from the original Star Trek series. Guess what - there were lyrics! Having read them, I can assure you that anybody who watched Star Trek should be glad they went with an instrumental version for the TV show!</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>Talk about guilty pleasures…I’m somewhat embarrassed that I can still remember the whole cheesy ABC Friday night line-up from the early 70’s (late elementary/ early middle school era for me)which I, of course, couldn’t miss.: The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Room 222, The Odd Couple and, yes, Love American Style.</p>

<p>Beyond the rim of starlight,
my love is wand’ring in star flight.
I know he’ll find
In star clustered reaches
Love, strange love
A starwoman teaches.</p>

<p>I know his journey ends never.
His Star Trek will go on forever.
But tell him while
He wanders his starry sea,
Remember,
Remember me.</p>

<p>Yep, reason enough to stick with the instrumental version.</p>

<p>

We loved it! Although I remember we all found Cindy Brady and those ringlet pigtails to be just too much.</p>

<p>Oh, those Friday nights…my friends and I would spead our sleeping bags out on someone’s living room floor and watch the whole line-up, swooning over David Cassidy and thinking we were watching something really scandalous when Love American Style came on. I had every Partridge Family Album.</p>

<p>Sigh… that was a fun trip down memory lane! I think you guys already listed most of the ones I remember… I’ll have to wrack my brain to see if you left any good ones out!</p>

<p>Okay, Packmom and dragon - did you also dance with Bobby and David? My friends and I used to take the album covers from Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy albums, take out the record, and stick a broomstick into the cover. We then took turns “dancing” with them and arguing over who was the better catch.</p>

<p>My DD thinks we were morons, but maybe the concept just doesn’t translate into CD covers (or downloads from iTunes.)</p>

<p>PackMom - yes, but the real question is: do you have any of the Partridge Family on CD? GUILTY!</p>
