But love genealogy - finding my distant relatives left France in 1630 to settle in New France (Quebec area) makes me proud to think how crazy adventurous they were and maybe hope that I have some of that in me.

This is fun. People have passionate dislikes as well as enthusiasms.
I am fascinated by enthusiast subcultures. They have their own languages and celebrities, just as academic and ethnic subcultures do.
(I’m actually an international celebrity in one of these. It’s hilarious.)
My kids do not share my interest in subcultures. My daughter still talks scornfully about the time I dragged her to a model train exhibit and asked tons of questions. They had chosen a specific place and time and adhered rigidly to historic authenticity. I was charmed!
Movies about “the human condition” or that involve lots of people standing or sitting around talking. Bring on some action or entertainment

I admit to being very easily amused and having at least a passing fascination with just about everything mentioned except the Kardashians.
Being a guy, two topics come up repeatedly in conversations with other men who don’t know me well: motorized vehicles and hunting. I appreciate the convenience of driving but consider owning a vehicle an expensive nuisance. I worked on cars out of necessity back when I was poor. I would rather be on a bicycle.
Also, I hunted plenty while growing up but outgrew it and got rid of the guns. Physical dominance to prove one’s manliness suddenly seemed ridiculous.
Football, and more specifically, the Super Bowl.
Ways to avoid eating carbs such as cauliflower pizza dough and zucchini spaghetti
