kyedor - You go, girl. I am thankful that your D passed the 18th birthday milestone without incident. There are a lot of us here rooting for you; your parenting of this “difficult” teen is an inspiration.

I am thankful for modern plumbing and flush toilets. :p

I am thankful to the great chefs who invented mise en place, which saved my sanity this Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for great contractors who take pride in their work and a job well done.

I am thankful that sex gets better after 40. Who knew?! Hey, let’s Talk Sex with Sluggbugg! On second thought, nevermind. Step AWAY from the Private Message button. :)

I am thankful that I am blessed with an extraordinarily patient spousal unit from the Planet Remulak.

I am thankful that Sixteen is followed by Seventeen and all is right with the World.

I am thankful that our grocery store sells hormone-free milk. This did not matter to me until 2 days ago when college D explained, in disgusting detail, why this is important. :p

I am thankful for hybrid cars.

I am thankful for CC’er pals who don’t mind driving a long way on Halloween Night to meet one another. :)

Guess I am late but just the thread I am looking for to express my mood as I reflect over all that has happened this past weekend.

I am thankful that we enjoyed having our D#1 back from college and spent two enjoyable days with her before losing her to her high school friends.

I am especially thankful that she spent a lot of time with D#2 who is 71/2 years - 10 ½ years younger than her - and that the closeness that had developed between them was resumed.

I am also glad that she and I spent four days without me nagging her - she has become so responsible - makes me feel that I(a bit of a control freak) was the one hindering that progress in responsibility.

I am glad that we will be taking her back to college today with such a good memory left behind.

Thank god for the happiness and joy that motherhood brings.* sniffs *

I thought I would revive this old thing- cause while forward movement wasn’t as speedy as I had hoped- I still have kept from sliding backdown hill!

I am thankful for Amtrack and my parents’ safe arrival. They are too drive or deal with O’Hare.

I am thankful that S1 passed his PhD qualifying exam yesterday and that he will be home late tonight (if he doesn’t end up spending the night at Dulles, like he did last year ;)).

I hope everyone is traveling safely- it is pretty wild out there.

I am grateful that my family is healthy and happy. This hasn’t always been the case.

Well, I didn’t check the date of the thread and got a shock when I read that LTS was thankful for crisp October days.
I am thankful we “knew” her.

I am thankful my kids are in great colleges for them and both seem to be doing very well.

I am thankful for friends, both IRL and virtual ( and strongly virtual this year!).

I am thankful my parents are alive.

(boy EK, this is hard not to add I am thankful BUT… ) No I am really just thankful.

I am thankful my H can listen to the same conversation ad nauseam.

I am thankful for my friend, the cat sitter so I can go running off on whims.

I am thankful my H perfected the pumpkin pie recipe and both kids are making it for their TG celebrations.

I am thankful we managed to get a few “traditions” into the kids lives because this is not my forte!

That was one reason why I dug it up- I thought that it would be nice to revisit with some old friends- even if they aren’t around anymore- they are still remembered.

I notice that five years ago I was thankful that my kids were on track to graduate from college. I am thankful that they did! I am thankful that the big fire of 2008 (which totally wiped out our business inventory–fully insured, but still!) didn’t destroy us but instead made us stronger. I am beyond thankful we moved from the Seattle suburbs to the Portland close-ins (although also thankful we’re not completely downtown).

My husband’s oncologist told him this morning that there are very few people who have ten year remissions–(and he’s still in remission)–with the treatment he had; I’m deeply thankful for chemotherapy and the ten years we’ve had as a result.

I am thankful for…

My parents, who just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

My one and only marriage of 22 years.

My daughter, a Boston College junior Accounting major, receiving two job offers from Big 4 firms after her first two interviews.

My son, a loving/caring/imaginative/respectful (most of the time)/humorous HS senior.

My mother-in-law.

My brother and sister.

My cat, who likes me the best.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING CC COMMUNITY!

I am thankful to be home! My Parent’s Weekend visit turned out to be a nearly month long stay away from home due to an injury. I just got home on Sunday and, wow, is it good to be here.

I’m thankful for all the men and women serving our country around the world who are not home for Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful that my son made it safely from Boston to Brooklyn today to celebrate Thanksgivings with friends.

I’m thankful for my son and his easy transition to being a college freshman this year.

I’m thankful for CC! My son is attending a college I had not heard of until I started reading here and it’s turned out to be a wonderful match.

I’m thankful for my pug who I have to go fish out of the shrubs where she is “hiding” and barking at people walking by!

facebook. and college confidential :)

My wonderful husband and delightfully aging parents.

For having so much family so nearby that no planes or trains are needed at Thanksgiving.

For my brothers steady recovery after being hit by a car on his bike and escaping with the ability to still walk!

And I must agree…for Facebook and College Confidential friends!

For all the time DH and I have been able to spend together this year and that we managed to get through building a house five hours away without killing each other.

For S1, a Navy officer, making it through a grueling training program and that he can spend T’giving and Christmas with us this year.

For S2’s steady progress in college and growing maturity.

For second chances.

I am thankful for modern plumbing and flush toilets.

Oops I went a little far back( shout out to)- to sluggbugg, but since my bathroom is so cold my jojoba oil is solid-( it was added onto the house at the very end of the heating system), I still appreciate running water & electricity 24- count them 24 hours! round the clock!(oops I left the l out) woo hoo!

I am thankful that my family is together this year. I am so thankful that my son is home safely from Iraq, and that my daughter seems to be thriving at college. :)

(I am thankful that they are both upstairs, sleeping in their own rooms. I know it is only for a few days, but it is a great feeling knowing they are both home!)

I’m happy for you, sokkermom. I t is hard for me to imagine how hard it would be to have a son in the military.

Very happy here that my cat, guppies, son and I are all safe. That the two humans will share Thanksgiving meal with family. Looking forward to hearing my fifth grade niece play guitar with my son. But missing my hockey star nephew.
