^^ or maybe it’s better to go through life thinking you’re awesome :D, even if by someone else’s metric you aren’t.
I’ve come around recently from being constantly hyper-critical of my work to thinking it’s pretty good. I"m enjoying feeling like I don’t suck, and if other people want to toot their own horn, hey, more power to them.
My h is one of those who looked like he was gaming the system on our last trip to LA. I had paid the extra boarding fees for SW and we went through the TSA lines. When we got to the gate, I had found that they had changed our departing gate, necessitating another trip through the airport and another trip through a different TSA. I asked if there was an easier way for my husband who has emphysema and afib and the person helping me called for a wheelchair. I thought my h would be furious (he tries to hide his condition) but he was too tired to be angry. Once SW puts you in a wheelchair, you are in for the rest of your trip which was kind of tricky for my ADHD husband during a 3 hour layover! He can walk–and needs to walk–but I guess he also looks old so nobody challenged him on his short walks.
Your animals DO NOT belong on planes or in shops. If you can’t go anywhere without your pet/“comfort animal”, stay home. Other people have to breathe and that takes precedence over your feelings.
Turn signals. Use them. Speeders/tailgaters should be permanently removed from the roads. I wish I could hit a button and eject them off the road.
@BunsenBurner and @abasket - try people in surrounding cubicles arguing with their SOs, dealing with parents with dementia, etc. That’s what I put up with on a daily basis. I’d report it but don’t want a ****ing contest.
@STEM2017, No, that’s why I also asked if she makes an exception in her thinking for service dogs. If breathing is an issue, it will be an issue whether it’s a service or comfort animal.
I hate, hate, hate tailgaters. There is a new group of drivers out their whose parents must not have constantly remind them to keep their distance. (or they grew up without having to listen to their mom repeatedly tell dad not to get so close) :))
We were flying home from a trip yesterday and there was a couple sitting across from us who had 3 dogs!! Really?? Three dogs???
The dogs were quiet and well-behaved during the trip, but one of them urinated as we were going to the luggage carousel. The owner flipped out and started yelling and running all around asking people for paper towels.
Today I was enjoying breakfast with H at S restaurant when he told me to be careful not to kick the dog! I was startled and saw a dog right under our table and my chair. I said, “Whose dog is this?” The woman in the table next to us scooped up the fog without a word of apology and put it back at her table.
I’m really tired of dogs everywhere, especially when I’m trying to enjoy a meal. It was not an outside patio and there was no service animal vest. If you need your dog 24/7, please stay in places that welcome them and please keep them with you. They are all over our shopping malls and stores too–some loudly barking and unhappy. If i wanted to be surrounded by dogs, I’d go to the rescue center and volunteer.
I agree with you HImom, and I am a dog lover. But I totally get why people don’t want them around when thy are eating. We were in Austria and Italy a couple of years ago and experienced dogs in restaurants. The dogs were super well trained and didn’t bother people at all. My dogs would never pass that test , and I know it
I like dogs fine, but they belong outdoors or in owner’s premises, not in public indoor spaces quietly groveling at owner’s feet. I’m glad I’m not highly allergic to dogs or it would be a huge problem with them in so many public spaces, including airplanes.
I wonder if there will eventually be a dog section in airplanes and restaurants, much like there used to be smoking sections.
We love our dogs, but we don’t stay in pet friendly hotels or eat at pet friendly restaurants, because there are too many people who don’t have well-behaved dogs that bring them to those places.
That’s why I love HI resorts - not too many folks go through the trouble of bringing their pets with them from the mainland. Annoying little snowflakes are a different issue. But they usually precipitate at Aulani…
