Things People Do That Are So Irritating!!

Oh and another one. (I didn’t realize I was cranky today!) In the Times Square area, the sidewalks are always crowded by adult-sized people. It drives me insane when people let toddlers and pre-schoolers walk free in such crowds. It is very easy for a kid to get separated and swept along in the crowd, and in such tightly-packed spaces, other people can easily trip over a small child who isn’t easily visible. Pick the kid up.

In my area in the past few years, there has been a huge increase of guys driving expensive , crew cab trucks. They are the most aggressive, obnoxious drivers - tailing, speeding, cutting people off, running red lights. I wish they’d crawl in some hole. Your big ass truck does not give you more power.

People who pay $150 to have their pet designated a service pet, even though the pet provides no real service at all aside from being their beloved pet.

Irritating and insulting to people who truly need service pets.

People who abuse handicap parking passes.

I would NEVER question a seemingly able-body person using a handicap pass because I have no idea what their situation is, but I am certain that some very lazy people abuse this privilege.

I agree@stem2017. Years ago I saw an able-bodied neighbor park in a handicapped spot - in his wife’s car. She had the tag due to a disability, but he drove her car to take the spot.

@STEM2017 I sat on a Southwest flight next to a young, able bodied woman who was traveling with her service dog. She told me that she suffered from “flying anxiety,” and the dog comforted her. She was able to board early and take a seat in the front row - priority seating that I paid more for. The whole thing was laughable - the dog looked a whole lot more stressed out about being on the plane than she did. Airlines should stop this sort of abuse.

^“Flying anxiety” service pets are a thing now. A big thing. Get ready for it, get used to it.

I got on a southwest flight where I saw two HUGE dogs sitting on the floor in the bulkhead front seats. It seemed like they had two owners, and I’m not sure if they bought the 3rd seat too. I was wondering who was going to be sitting in that 3rd seat (!).

I have flown with my doggie on SW, but she stays in her carrier under the seat. I’d hate to lose the ability to fly with her.

I feel for travelers with allergies to dog hair these days. They should have some rights, too.

@Gourmetmom…I would like to picture you smiling at that saleswoman as kindly as you could manage, and saying “why wouldn’t I know the difference?”

You’re strong to resist snarkyness. On the other hand, what (if anything) will stop rudeness in its tracks? Snarkyness ups the coarseness of our culture, but letting everything go gives license. How to be assertive yet gracious is a fine balance that seems to allude me …but what would I give to attain it!

People who rev engines on vehicles that sound like they belong on a dragstrip. Yeah, buddy, I’m so impressed by your loud, obnoxious noise. I can only imagine what you are compensating for.

LOL, @ChoatieMom, I always wonder why these people think they look like anything but toddlers with their Hotwheels!

On another note…I am annoyed by people firing up noisy gardening mowers, blowers, weed-wackers very early on a Saturday or Sunday. Also (even though I know most will consider me in the wrong here) neighbors who choose the most beautiful days to do their noisiest yardwork. I have a tiny yard surrounded by large ones. I use a push-mower with no engine and all hand tools because I love the quiet and hate petroleum fumes. I garden (and want to spend time there) because I love it, not as just a maintenance chore. All around me I see people with impeccable lawns (to drive past) but rarely anyone ENJOYING them. I can understand their point of view ( doing the maintenance when it’s sunny but not hot) but it pains me that I can rarely enjoy the most glorious weather in peace and quiet unless I drive to a mountaintop.

People who report their health problems on FB complete with photos.

People who post romantic messages to their SOs on FB.

Loud talkers.

Low talkers. Ever since I turned 50, I notice there are alot more of them. Speak up!

Has anyone talked about strangers that get into your personal space? I have my bubble when I am out and about and I like to have my space and not have others encroaching on it. Same with my airplane seat!

I always take crying kids out of a restaurant or church where there is a clear expectation of quiet.

My sister in law told me a story where she didn’t tip a waitress when the hostess (different person) was rude to them, I gave her a very hard time about that!

I’ve been in a lot of airports lately (not for fun) and it’s frustrating when people just stop in the middle of the walkway. It happens all the time. Be aware of your surroundings.

@IBviolamom said: “Women who can’t handle their husbands or boyfriends interacting with another woman in any way. You know, the ones who rush up to grab the guys on the second they see him exchanging pleasantries with you by the cheese and crackers.” Maybe there’s a reason!! LOL.

This made me laugh as well. You are minding your own business in a supermarket or pharmacy and a man in the same aisle makes a comment about the weather or simply asks you if you know where something is. You don’t want to be rude and politely exchange a pleasantry or answer his question. The girlfriend/wife then swoops in and gives you the death glare as if it was YOU that started the conversation in the first place.

LOL guess the assumption is we are all up to no good!

Sales clerks at the grocery who apologize for the wait after ringing up either an elderly person with many coupons or a WIC recipient are annoying. Most of the time the other customer is still getting their bags situated so they can leave, and they can hear you. You don’t apologize when the line is held up for a price check because your staff made a mistake. And you don’t apologize when the person ahead has a month’s worth of groceries or seems to be hosting a large party either. So just cut it out.

Grocery/target clerks who comment on your purchases. Come on, there’s an unspoken rule that you can’t really notice exactly what I’m buying.

Oh my gosh, just had this happen last night @maya54.

Had a kid cashier comment on my marshmallow and chocolate purchase (it was for hot chocolate).

Awkward!
