Things People Do That Are So Irritating!!

Did you happen to be at 725 5th avenue? :wink:

@veruca - you must have the most laid-back exercise class ever. Mine’s way too intense for anyone to be able to talk.

People who pull into an intersection as the light is getting ready to change and end up blocking the intersection.

@carolinamom2boys here in Atlanta “blocking the box” gets you a hefty ticket now :slight_smile:

Yoga teachers who talk incessantly rather than let you just enjoy the pose. Especially in a Yin class where you are holding the pose for a few minutes. STOP with all the preaching and let us settle into it peacefully without the excess jabber. Save the words of wisdom and Tibetan proverbs for the beginning or end of the practice.

I thought it was just my mood yesterday but the woman next to me looked over and whispered “don’t you wish she would just keep quiet?” Yes, I surely did.

^^^ Yesssss!!!

@zoosermom Nobody said anything? I will yell, “Step aside please!”

@HarvestMoon1 I totally agree!!!

I get frustrated when I’m with my kids, and adults chatting with us (about what the kids are up to & college) will feel compelled to launch into a story about how much alcohol they drank, how many drugs they did, or how they nearly killed themselves doing some crazy thing when they were in college.

The first time it happened, I thought it was a one-off. Then it happened again. And again. And again.

It’s become a running joke now. The girls and I will give each other the side glance. Here it comes!

Smoking - anywhere, anytime. People who show up to concerts or theaters drunk and sing loudly. People bringing children where they don’t belong, or not requiring good behavior. Parents parenting by giving very young children electronics. The kiosks in malls where the employees approach you wanting you to try their lotion or gadget or whatever. People who fart on planes - it’s a thing, it’s gross, stop it.

Along the same lines, people who do this at the subway turnstyle. You knew you were going to get on the subway - get your card ready or step out of line while you look for it.

Similarly, at my closest subway station (and many like it) there are several turnstyles from which to choose. Why do people when coming off the steps all choose the first one, and the form a line which forces the rest of us to fight out way through to get to one of the others?

@Bestfriendsgirl - I teach Pilates and cycle

Talkers usually aren’t doing the exercises or they at least they aren’t doing them correctly

Post 129–the kiosks in malls where people approach you.to try their product
and they can be aggressive at times.(and I’ll add some stores in malls where the sales person is hanging in the doorway so you can’t even get in!).
I’ve noticed most are foreign in my experience.

I believe a lot of this may be cultural. It bothered me up until the time I visited Turkey several years ago and that was the norm. The stores were very small and the owner stood outside trying to draw you into their shop. It was disconcerting at first as an American to be barraged with sales talk in such a manner but after realizing that was the “norm” we adjusted and relaxed
 And it became fun to shop. Nobody was offended if you passed them by and always pleasant if you stepped into their shop.

I don’t think they’re doing it on purpose. The pressurization on the planes causes it, just like your ears popping.

People who wear perfume in the office. These cubicles don’t keep anything in their space and so those of us with allergies are really impacted.

On the congested freeway, in the slow lane, getting out of the slow lane to move into the lane that merges onto the freeway, drive up the 10 car lengths and then merge back into the slow lane. Really? Why are you so much more important than everyone else waiting their turn to get to where they are going.

Honestly, it sounds like HR should be contacted if the scents are making work difficult due to allergies. It is very tough to figure out how to escape strong scents in areas where the air is recirculated–a HEPA air cleaner has limited range.

The parents who are still pushing toddlers in giant strollers. Make that child walk on his two legs and quit wasting space in aisles and on sidewalks. It’s obvious that they legs are too long to sit in the stroller.

@bobmom - Years ago, I worked at a small human service agency that served mostly autistic clients. One of the cardinal rules was no scents whatsoever because of the way some clients reacted. I got out of the habit of wearing perfume and haven’t really worn it since.

When people bring in food from one restaurant to eat in the dining area of another. I see this mostly with children when parents will bring in a fast food kids meal while they are dining at a restaurant. I think that us just rude.

I also hate when people run to save a table before even ordering. One should order first and then find a seat.

Someone mentioning something on a plane reminded me of another irritating thing that some people do
when they’re getting in or out of their seat and pull on the seat back in front of them. Or the parents who allow their kids to continue to kick the seat back in front of them.
