Our boy dog is young, but he is a groaner! We think it’s funny.
But it would annoy me if my husband did it. Sometimes he talks and really needs to clear his throat and that gets on my last nerve. I wish I could tell him to clear his throat but he is super sensitive to any form of criticism. That’s a room leaving thing in my house.
OMG yes on the dishtowels. Everything about this. (I will note, we are also still using some that we got from Williams Sonoma when we got married 25 years ago…)
I constantly clear my throat for an hour or two in the morning, typically nothing after 10:00 a.m. or so - I always thought it was just nasal drainage during the night - can’t really feel that but their is something in there. Gone by 10:00 a.m.
Today’s annoyance…
I’m not sure if it’s menopause that annoys me, or my husband’s complete lack of understanding why I need to keep the thermostat at 70 degrees (65 at night).
Some of my husband’s projects annoy me. Like the one he is working on right now which left the deck covered in aluminum shavings and dust. Who will be cleaning that up? The grands will be here this weekend so the dangerous stuff needs to be gone!
I’m always very impressed with my friend’s husband’s who are, what I call, 100%ers. Meaning, not only do they actually finish the project, but they clean up afterwards as well.
I am annoyed when I’m coming up to an intersection and someone is making a left hand turn into the lane next to me and they cut into my lane. Learn how to make a left hand turn and stay in your lane!
Dentist offices (mostly the ones owned by corporations) have been doing 2 things that annoy me. One is they want to take my blood pressure (hygienists do this). They claim it’s mandatory for their office and everyone’s is taken, regardless of medical history. I have a medical doctor. If I have a blood pressure issue, she will diagnose it and make recommendations - not my DDS. I am just having a cleaning, not dental surgery. I have been going to the dentist regularly since I was 4 years old and have survived without having my blood pressure taken. I’m very relaxed at the dentist and have never had anxiety about going.
The second thing - they endlessly try and sell me stuff (the dentist him/herself is the salesperson). They try and sell me mouthguards, sealants, procedures for receding gums, expensive toothpaste. It adds 15 minutes onto my appointment while they go through their spiel. I don’t have dental insurance, so unless I need an emergency procedure, I’m not buying anything extra (which I politely tell them each time).
After going through two practices, I finally found a local practice that does none of these things. I have great oral hygiene, I regularly visit the dentist (yes, I get the yearly x-ray without complaint), I floss religiously and use a sonic toothbrush. I’ve never needed a root canal and have only had 2 cavities in my lifetime.
Seems like this is one of those things that they do for everyone because (a) high blood pressure can affect dental procedures, (b) not everyone gets blood pressure checked regularly, and (c) doing it for everyone is not more expensive than doing it for some, and avoids mistakes in judgement calls about whether to do it for a particular person.
Yes, upselling can be annoying. Presumably, the dentist in question is trying to pay off the loans needed for dental school and starting or buying a practice.
Another vote for Williams Sonoma! I am sad the WS in our local mall closed down. I could sometimes find them on sale. I tried others, but plan to go back to WS.
Today’s annoyance: Drivers who knowingly cut in line when a back-up requires merging. Yes, sometimes they weren’t paying attention, or didn’t know the lane became turn-only (been there/done that). But you can often tell the difference, when instead of trying to merge when it becomes apparent, they zoom to the front of the line to squeeze in.
I have a suspicion they charge insurance for this “procedure”
I know my dentist (Husband and wife practice. The office is downstairs, they live upstairs) is doing everything they can not to sell out to a big corporation. But, it’s the same thing. Not high pressure, but always asking. I had to laugh when after years of telling me how straight my teeth are and that they are amazed I never had braces, they tried to sell me braces. I’m in my mid-fifties. I don’t think so.
