Also SUNY schools like Binghamton and Albany are good choices too and you can save a lot $ for graduate school !

There has been a thread before about winter time at Hamilton but now it’s not visible. I just copy what I wrote in response to that:

There is a lot of snow. A lot. Yet, Snow days are extremely rare at Hamilton but last year we actually had a whole day canceled and another one when school was delayed. Should such a thing happen, every student will get an email, a text message, and will be called by an automated voice informing us about what’s up.
Also, Hamilton does a great job clearing the walkways so you rarely have problems with accessing facilities even when there is 2 feet of snow out there. There are even areas where the ground and stairs are heated so the snow and ice melts off!

From the Glen House, a charming and cozy house right by the woods on campus, anyone can rent out skis, snowshoes, and I think even snowboards for free and use them as they wish. It’s pretty cool and it’s just another great way to enjoy the snow and a rare snow day.
There is also free skating in the skate rink every day and they are planning to introduce free skate rentals too! When it gets very cold, they even make an outdoor ice-skating area for us to enjoy.

Don’t worry about the cold! There are many things to do even in the winter. Outside of campus, there isn’t too much to do except for going into the nature which is amazing, or going to Walmart, target, etc. The campus has so much to offer though! You will NEVER be sitting in your room thinking that there is nothing you could do. You can meet friends in one of the cafes or dining halls, you can go watch a movie on a huge screen in a lecture hall (literally turn a lecture hall into a movie theater-they’ll let you do it, you may not even need permission), you can go rock climbing on the indoor climbing wall, you can go swim, play pool in a dorm, go to the gym, go hike in the woods, play golf on Hamilton’s golf course, play tennis, host a radio show at the radio station, go to the observatory at night, watch a play or listen to a talk, attend club meetings, etc. etc. This list could go on forever.

And the campus is just simply gorgeous. It’s cozy, it makes you feel at home, it’s social, it’s modern, it’s clean, it’s beautiful…its simply awesome.

Whoever said 2200 is a complete and utter moron. a 1950 is just fine, but it will not guarantee you in.

Hello ksanyee,

It is heartening to read your post. i am an aspiring Hamilton student, with SAT 2190, I am taking SAT subject tests. I come from a school that follows state syllabus in India.
Can u answer some questions please?

I have good grades, good recos from teachers, Finished 2nd in national Level trivia quiz. Essay is good and i am poor!

What are my chances?

PS:where are u from

I can only tell as much as you already know. You never now if you get in or not. As an international asking for full financial aid, admission will be rather hard. I got in this way but I worked a lot on my application. To make you feel better about your stats, my SAT was only 2040 (but I used the test choice option so it did not matter after all).
My advice would be to emphasize that you enjoy close knit communities, or something that you have done in the past related to your community. They told me I was accepted because I did contribute to my school community in the past.
Good luck!
p.s. Im from Europe

Thank you very much. And Wish you a very happy new year.

I got my SAT sub scores they are Phy.800, Chem780. ACT comp 34 and writing 10. Which place me quite well. What i want to know is, what did you think was the single most important factor for admission.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

Hi ksanyee,

Hope you had a good new year. Did you get a chance to see my previous post, would you please chance me?

Thanks very much

I don’t think a school like Hamilton has one thing they put above the rest, but if they had to my my guess would be your high school transcript. But a 34 is amazing, congrats!
