Oh, and Kowloon and Stupidkid: stop being little kids. Kowloon was making a good point on potential, and I saw in his comment that he was just using an exaggeration with John Nash. It was a joke. Jeez…

Whew! There are some very harsh people on CC. It seems that no matter how accomplished someone is, there will always be someone to say, “You have nothing that stands out” or “You need to be more well-rounded.” But whatever, don’t let those comments get you down. I think your resume looks great! I think you have a great chance at all the schools you are applying to. Ivy level schools do seem so arbitrary sometimes in admissions. You never know, but I wish you the best of luck!

Kudos for Lover789. I totally agree.

Geez, sry lover. the applicant wanted some harsh feedback (and I admit I exaggerated… just a tweeny bit), and I gave him the harshest criticism I could possibly make out of this resume. I mean, a good criticism helps more than 20 admiring posts… :(

Well, your stats do seem very good, but as said, there’s really no such thing as guaranteed acceptance or anything. While I definitely think your chances are high, I wouldn’t want you to think you’re definitely going to get in only to be disappointed. So, you have excellent chances and I’d like to wish you luck on fulfilling your dream of pursuing a medical career!

Btw crosscurrent, compare yourself to this girl:

You’re actually one of the few people who come close to being comparable to her.

Cheers
Kowloon

This might be a bit random, but does placing first in an international essay competition count as a hook? It was a major deal apparently, got national press coverage, won $3000 dollars, was invited to Barcelona to speak at a convention in front of 20,000 people…

I would assume it does- a big deal was made out of it anyway.
If you went to Barcelona, you could somehow vent your essay around it which could be nice.

Thanks for the replies guys.

lol, that’s like an unintentional two-time diss.

I say you have great chances at all schools. You’ll probably be rejected by 2 to 5 of your 11 schools just cuz it’s fun for them.
I really don’t see why some ppl are as harsh as they are; what chances do I have then? (at ‘lower’ schools)
But at the same time, why bother asking for chances?
you probably already know that once you reach a certain point, there’s nothing else you really can do, granted that most ppl have limited opportunities etc. I, for one, can not / do not know how to compete in statewide competitions or anything. I go to an int’l school in china. no ap’s offered at my school either, etc.
