@fl1234: I have nothing against UF as you wrongfully allege–I was just responding to this thread & to other posters requests in this thread that I explain “Why?”.
Of relevance to this thread in the Strategic Plan of the State Board of Governors, however, is a clearly stated goal regarding “rankings” and regarding “percentage of students ranking in the top 10% of their high school class.”
This, of course, suggests that my position is in line with that of the Board of Governors which oversees the entire university of Florida system with respect to admitting students based on high school class rank. Unfortunately, my position & the position of this Board appear to be for different reasons. The Board indicates a clear desire to be a top ranked public university and notes that percentage of students in the top 10% of their class is a factor used in the rankings. My concern is to benefit all Florida citizens & counties–not to satisfy US News ratings methods.
