Screw e-bay. I always get ripped off on that site. Amazon is the only online site I trust.

MGS, don’t you have to use logs, trig functions, and matrices a lot in calculus? Seems like a graphing calculator would be useful for that.

You can use a scientific calculator for that too.

I didn’t use matrices at all in calculus, other than for the purpose of taking determinants.

Other engineering classes, yes. That’s when I use Matlab.

^ I agree!!!

TI-89 is wasteful.
If you ever need a graphing utility that is required in class, and can be used during examination , you have to check it with your professor.
Othewise, from what I know, many colleges today prefer and prohibited students from using calculator in the math courses.

In our school, we are not allow to use calculator. It sounds stupid, but it really helps you to develop your mathematic skills.

If you ever need to do anything that is complicated, I think Matlab and wolframalpha.com handle better than your TI-89 or iPod touch.
To find all extrema for this function will take you forever: f(x,y) = sin(3y-x^2+1) + cos(2y^2-2*x)
Matlab can find them in 5 seconds.

I would stick with TI-83 if you don’t need it in an exam.
