My mom was buying wheat bread & yogurt in the '60s. We were weird.

^^^^My high school BF’s family in the 70’s ate wheat bread and yogurt, too. We really thought they were odd because they ate only yams instead of baked potatoes and his mom always removed the skin from their chicken breasts!

Just knowing the shelf live of twinkies is 25 days makes me sick. Even more so on the non-dairy ingredients, I guess it is full of preservatives and sugar. yike…

I was at a friends this morning. She had a carton of organic milk that had a “use by” date in LATE february…longer shelf life than for those twinkies.

It still is organic- but a lot of milk is ultra pasteurized.

We had Twinkies and Ding Dongs in our lunch in elementary school. I never cared for Twinkies. I did and still love Hostess Cupcakes. I don’t eat them because I know they are not good for me. Plus I could eat the entire box in two days.
My senior year in HS I was a teacher aide first period. My best friend and I would get to school, check in with the teacher and proceed to leave school and walk to the liquor store to buy our “breakfast”. Every morning of senior year I had a package of two Hostess Chocolate cupcakes and a pack of trident gum for breakfast. I used to be a gum swallower. I would eat the frosting first. Oh youth, I could eat cupcakes for breakfast and still weigh in at 85 lbs. No more.

Twinkies et al are not going away. The company is trying to reorganize and reduce labor costs driven higher by unionized employees ala American Airlines.

Tastykakes. Discussion over.

Tastycakes? meh. :)
