We rented a storage unit and removed as much as possible, especially in the kitchen, kids items, extra clothes, linens and cleared out the garage as much as possible, too.
Personally, if possible I’d take a pet like a dog with me since showings don’t last very long generally and strangers in a home can be a stressful time for pets.
