They’re all entire college accounting textbooks that were uploaded in online
format (with advertisements to pay of course). Can anyone take a
cursory glance at the PDFs and say how useful it would be to study
off of it for Tiller’s class? thanks!

I’ve a tutor with proven track record. He’s a student, but he tutors A100. His student has consistently score Average A-.
I dropped my A100 during my first sem and ended up with an A during my 2nd attempt. Don’t ask me how I do it, I just made it.

The first three (3) chapters of that accounting textbook would be good to know before entering A100. At a glance, the third chapter is especially important because it touches on accruals/deferrals - a topic that Tiller never explicitly mentions but an extremely important one.

Besides that, the main things you’ll likely be tested on is the effect of certain recognitions of cash paid and expenses have on different accounts.

If you want, you can PM me your IU e-mail address and I can send you all of the practice exams for A100 through a ZIP file. If anyone else is interested in this, you can simply PM me your IU e-mail address and I’ll send the files to you so you can get started with studying.

Here are eighteen hours worth of video from IUPUI’s three credit hour intro accounting class for non-business majors. Same type of content as A100 but spread out over a whole three credit class.

Question… I already took Financial Acct and Managerial Acct at another college, I still have to take this class. Should it be easy after that preparation?

As I posted in post #2 of this thread (about a year ago), the problem is that there just isn’t enough time to learn the necessary material this class presents in 14 hours. On the other hand, if you’ve already taken two 3 unit classes in accounting at another school (96 hours), then you’ve had enough time to learn everything, and this course should, as A2Wolves6 puts it, be a cakewalk.

based on the comments that the econ teacher teaches nothing…i forgot which class number…do you guys think it would be wise to use my AP econ scores to skip out of that class? or should i retake it? same for Statistics

Im taking finite math, k 201, and A 100 my first semester… i was only warned of A 100 when i was signing up for classes and only recently was i told of k 201 being a wash out class and now i hear finite math is? Im smart and made good grades in high school but is it reasonable for me to take these three my first semester of college?

I’m also going to be an incoming freshman. I’m taking finite math and A100 my first semester. From what I hear it is best to separate K201 and A100. Maybe take K201 2nd semester and take one of the easier business electives in its place, although class availability might be scarce at this point. You could always take some kind of intro class and drop K201 as well.

K201 and A100 don’t seem impossibly hard, students just need a lot of focus in doing a lot of self-study relative to the amount of time spent in class.

cjvaall… if your a direct admit and if you don’t mind getting anywhere form a .3.0 - 3.5 … then yeah its fine… but if your not a direct admit or if you want to get a GPA higher than 3.7… you are doing yourself a major dis-service by taking those 3 weed out classes in the first semester of your college carer…

Anyone who could not get into Kelley at IU, but still interested in Finance? What major did you select? Econ or Public Finance Mgmt? Any others? How good is SPEA?

We just got our scores for our final exam and it had a 8% curve! I ended up getting an A in the class with an A- on the midterm and a A on the final. The final ended up being a lot easier than the midterm! If you can do pretty well on the midterm, I think the final will turn out to be a lot easier/better.

I was always a B student back in high school so you don’t have to be “smart” to pass the class… It all came down to how much time/effort I had put into this class.

I took this course with Vivian Winston as my professor. She is an awesome professor that will definitely help you get through this course and I highly recommend her.
Overall I actually enjoyed this class. It was a lot of work studying outside of class and going to review sessions. I definitely agree with everyone that said to do every practice exam, do the readings, and go into office hours when you need help in order to succeed.

In conclusion, I came into this class being aware of how difficult this would be and took all the advice on this site (Thank you everyone). If you’re planning to take this course, it’s definitely do-able with all the help you are given.
