Tired of getting nickel and dimed!!!

The other day at Macy’s I had to exchange two shirts for smaller sizes in the exact same print. I was given a $.01 credit on my card for the exchange for reasons none of us understood. Weird!

I paid my $25 copay at my doctor and the visit was paid in full by my insurance because it was considered a ‘preventative’ visit because of the ACA.

I let it ride for 6 months and saw the doctor again and that visit too was paid in full.

Called doctor’s office to get my $25 back and said it will take 6-8 weeks. ***?! it takes 3 seconds to to a cc credit transaction.

Now, let me complain about Comcast. I truly hate them, but they are a necessary evil.

I had ‘issues’ with a few channels not coming in (one moment please). I waited a few days, no change.

Called Comcast. They wanted to replace my box even though I told them I didn’t think that was the issue. I was sure it was a problem on their end. They insisted on sending me a new box and I asked for a return postage stamp so I could take it to UPS instead of the Comcast office. I got a new box, no return postage. New box didn’t make a difference. I called again to get a return postage stamp (can’t you just send me a PDF file with a UPS sticker PLEASE). NO. 3 days later they send me ANOTHER box, but this was a HD box and I don’t have HD. I called again.

I took both boxes to the Comcast office. I was billed $10 each for postage. I called Comcast again to get those charges reversed.

I am not exaggerating when I say I spend 6+ hours either on the phone or at the Comcast office.

Here’s something that drove me crazy . recently I stayed at a Hilton in London, a supposedly business hotel. In my room I discovered I had to pay $15 euro/ day for WiFi. I was so irked by it that I spent 2 days having to sit in the lobby to connect. A waitress kept coming by the table trying to tell me I had to order some overpriced drink at the table.

Then I made one phone call to US for 5 minutes and the charge on my bill was $50 dollars!! Talk about nickel and dimed to death!

I left a scathing review on Trip Advisor.

We switched our cell phone plan from ATT to Verizon because I was tired of all the billing errors with ATT and dropped calls that went along with billing errors. In 18 months I have never had to call Verizon about a billing error and we have had no issues with service and dropped calls. The only advantage ATT had was the ease of adding international calling for limited time when travelling.

Now Time Warner Cable and Comcast… nightmare experiences in terminating service when either of the d’s moved upon graduation from college/grad school.

Macy’s- I hadn’t noticed $2.00 charge but I don’t shop at Macy’s all that much. The Herald Square store has been undergoing construction for the past year and they have upgraded the main floor so it is all glitzy with designer handbag boutiques. and strobe lights and pounding music… gives me a headache just to walk in there.

I had barebones cable–we didn’t watch much tv. When my mother moved in with us, my brother gave me $360 to pay for an international channel so she could watch shows in her native langauge and be up on things there. Great idea. But I had to upgrade to some super metal premium service to get that one lousy channel that is being streamed via computer even which upped my cable bill substantially in addition to the $30 per month for the subscription.

I have had all the major phone carriers in turn. Am with Sprint now. They were each OK in their own way, but have no great love for any of them. Am happy enough with Sprint because they basically gave each of us a free iPhone 5 and provide unlimited data and messaging and 1500 minutes of talk is WAY more than we ever need or use. Yes, our plan does cost a bit under $225 a month, but we will stick with them another year until our plan expires and just before then look around at the other options.

Our major problem with TMobile was the poor reception. At one point, it didn’t have reception in any of the 5 apartments my kids had one summer. That was when we switched to Verizon. When S started traveling a ton and wanted unlimited data, he convinced us to switch to Sprint. I initially got AT&T because they were giving $3 for every point in any game our home football team won. We won and scored about 70 points, so the phone bill was free for the six months or so. Worked for us.

One of the many reasons we switched from Dean Witter to Schwab is that we were charged so many fees that ran up into so much $$$$! So far, have been pretty happy with Schwab; rarely any fees. ;)
