SAT/GED/TOEFL scores: SAT 800 CR, 800 Math, 680 Essay (I can’t write fast enough >_<)
Previous Undergraduate Institution: Santa Monica College
GPA: Somewhere in the dismally low 3.0 ish side, I have D’s and F’s (but I retook these classes and got somewhat better marks)
Work Experience: Event planning (3yrs), restaurateur (5 yrs)
Volunteer Experience: NA
Essay: the perils of small business ownership and thus my mediocre GPA
Recommendations: (1) a former boss, (2) a very close friend (who works for Columbia)
Applied on: Completed by RD deadline, but final transcript didn’t get located/updated until June 25
Decision: Accepted!!
General Comments: I was convinced I would be rejected due to my low GPA (and subsequent reports of standardized test scores not really counting for much)</p>
