To serve or not to serve……

Just letting you all know…I never heard from the courts again…and my March 2 birthday was the age at which you no longer serve in my state! So…I’m done.

I get an emailed daily digest with images from the USPS of all my mail.

Yesterday’s digest showed there was a questionnaire from the county about jury service. I was dithering about what I should do about it since serving would cause a serious hardship w/r/t transportation. (I don’t have a car and there are no nearby public transit options I could use to get to the county courthouse 30+ minutes away. I suppose I could Uber/taxi, but runs about $25+ each way. I am not paying $50/day to serve on a jury!!)

BUT… the questionnaire never showed up in my mailbox! I have no idea what happened to it.

So I’m waiting to see if the jury questionnaire shows up here eventually.

In my jury duty orientation (southern VA), they said they would send an officer to pick you up if you did not have transportation. We probably have a lot of people without a valid driver’s license though.

I had a jury questionnaire show up in my Informed Delivery email, and it did indeed show up in my mail. (It was a postcard with instructions to fill out an online survey, for potential jury duty in 2027). But… the next day, I noticed a scrap of paper in the street and it turned out to be the same postcard, addressed to my across-the-street neighbor.

I wondered if it fell/blew out of the hands of the mail carrier, or if the neighbor got his mail, saw it, and reacted by tossing it to the wind. I popped it into his mailbox (I know, technically not allowed, don’t tell anyone). We’ll see if we end up being called at the same time, at some point next year.

So, anyway, I wonder if yours will show up eventually.

Mail carrier has told me (dk if correct) that when it shows up in your email it means its in process but doesn’t guarantee delivery that day. Hmmmmm… Says “expected today” or "arriving soon. Not a guarantee, per them

My informed delivery often informs me I will be getting items—when I check P O Box, often there’s nothing there! Oh well!
