To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

Schools were our valedictorians were accepted to:

*LSU
*UF
*Ole Miss
*SELU
*LA Tech
*Indiana at Bloomington

We don’t rank at my school, but our top seniors are going to:
-Yale (2)
-Princeton
-Brown
-MIT (2)
-Columbia (3)
-UPenn (2, 1 Wharton)
-UChicago

tigerbound09, it’s nice to see a list that doesn’t include Ivies, Stanford, etc. One’s perspective can become so skewed by hanging around CC too long. It’s good to be reminded that most schools still send their best students to “regular” colleges, and that that’s perfectly okay!

Mantori.suzuki- Thank you! On CC, I often feel overwhelmed by the vast number of students going to top Ivies and other top schools. Many students on here have been given so many opportunities that I could only dream about. It’s a great achievement to be accepted into a top university such as Harvard, Yale, Brown, etc., but I think the most rewarding achievement of all is to gain a college education. :)

And if one day you want to attend a school that seems out of reach now, you can always get into a top graduate school if you do well in your undergraduate years at a “regular” college. (I did!)

Geaux Tigers!

For this year we had:

This is mostly the top students (ie. top in weighted rank):

Duke (2)
Brown (1)
Stanford (3)
UC Berkeley (4)

Mantori.suzuki- That’s great advice! I’m going to keep that in mind.

For my school this year not much for the Valedictorian but last year the valedictorian got into:

Yale
Harvard
Stanford
Princeton (i think)

We had four valedictorians. All four are attending the University of Oklahoma, thanks to their nice financial aid.

1st valedictorian: accepted to Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Arizona State, Tulane, University of Oklahoma, Georgetown; rejected by Yale

2nd valedictorian: accepted to OU, Tulsa, Baylor; no rejections

3rd valedictorian: accepted by OU, Baylor; rejected by Vanderbilt, Rice; wait listed by Washington and Lee

4th valedictorian: accepted to OU; no rejections

I’m curious, red1raven, why didn’t all of the valedictorians apply to top schools like val. #1?

Can’t blame them all for choosing OU. Along with Tulsa, they offer a combination of financial aid and quality of education that’s hard to beat.

my valedictorian got accepted to Stanford, early action too, he also applied to Columbia but got waitlisted (regular decision)

The valedictorian is going to Brown, the salutatorian is going to Swarthmore.

valedictorian to UChicago, salutatorian to University of Southern Maine… (we all think she’s mental for doing so. it’s not a financial issue, she just really wants to go there.) third in the class to Union (NY), 4th to UVM, 5th to Bowdoin, 6th to George Washington.

we have a kid going to Swarthmore and another one going to UPenn…college admissions were rough this year

2010 - I AM THE VAL(NOT SHARED) - HPYSM?? CHANCE ME…
2009 - HARVARD, PRINCETON, MIT(attending), CALTECH, DUKE
2008 - HARVARD, PRINCETON, MIT(attending)
2007 - CALTECH(attending)

The girl who “claimed” to have been the '09 val went to SJSU, which perhaps leads me to believe that she wasn’t really the val.

We don’t really get told that stuff.

The valedictorian this year just went to our (USA standard) state school.

One from a very long time ago got into Stanford, MIT and Harvard. I don’t know which one he chose though.

Val #1: Arizona State University, Barrett Honors College
Val #2: Arizona State University, Barrett Honors College
Val #3: Arizona State University, Barrett Honors College

I think two of them applied to Harvard and Stanford, but both got rejected. They all seem to be happy with their BRAND NEW dorms and full-ride scholarships at ASU though.

Last year, Georgetown and the year before that Columbia on full ride.

Our school doesn’t technically rank, but the students that are generally considered valedictorian-level seem to have little problem getting into Yale SCEA. Happens just about every year.

Last year’s class had one kid going to Harvard, one to Princeton, and one to Stanford.

I don’t think there’s anyone in my class this year capable of getting into those schools. Most of the people in the top 10 have the grades, test scores, and rigorous schedules but virtually nonexistent extracurriculars.
