2, 4, 5 are all going to Drexel.

I’m going to Haverford!

2, 4, 5 are all going to Drexel.

Valedictorian got in ED to UPenn and is going after a gap year. A ton of other kids in the top are going to Ivies – we don’t actually rank beyond val (which we find out at the very end of senior year), so unsure of specifics

This year: Columbia ED, didn’t apply anywhere else
Last year: Harvard/Yale, probably a couple more. Chose Yale.

Val - duke
sal- swarthmore

He got into Every ivy but Yale. Not Accepted to MIT or Stanford but was accepted to Duke and a number of other prestigious schools. He is going to Harvard. I know…makes you feel like **** ya?

Val: Harvard (admitted to a whole bunch of ivies and Duke)
Sal: Yale got himself off the wait list (admitted to Duke and Dartmouth)
2 other kids got into Stanford (one accepted Stanford over Princeton)

UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, NYU Tisch, Boston University

Chose UC Berkeley

2013: Val: idk where she is applying???
Sal: ME!!! Yale SCEA
2012: Val: NEOMED (northeast ohio medical university)
Sal: Rice
Some other guy got into MIT, Brown, etc…
2011: Val and Sal: idk?
one other guy into Brown and another into Stanford tho
2010: Val: Notre Dame
Sal: Cornell

Our val applied to UC Davis, Cal, UCLA, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford. She got accepted at all the UCs she applied to and is going to Cal. I don’t know exactly where our sal applied, but I know she got rejected from Stanford and Yale, got accepted to UC Davis, Cal and UCLA and will be going to UC Davis.

The rest of the top 10:
3-UC Davis
4-University of San Francisco
5-UC Davis
6-Cal
7-Davis
8-Davis
9-I think she’s going to Cal Poly. Not positive though.
10-Davis

Yeah, a lot of people from my school going to UC Davis, lol.

Let’s seee…

I can’t remember the exact order of the top 12 (5%) but this is where we’re all going.
University of Maryland (me!)
Boston University (full ride)
Northeastern University (huge scholarship)
Wesleyan University
Amherst College (legacy)
Cornell (playing lacrosse)
Two at University of Rhode Island
University of Richmond

Val: Rutgers
Sal: Stanford

VAL: Duke
SAL: McGill
3: Colgate
4: Gettysberg

2009:
Valedictorian - Northwestern
Salutatorian - Georgia Tech

2010:
Valedictorian - Brown
Salutatorian - Haverford (ED I think)
A few other top students - Colgate, Colorado Coll., Rutgers, Carnegie Mellon, Delaware, Hamilton

2011:
Valedictorian - Georgetown (also accepted to UC Berkeley, among others)
Salutatorian - George Washington (he applied to a million schools, had no clue what he wanted to do or where he wanted to go)
A few other top students - Rutgers, Case Western Reserve, Fordham (full ride)

2012:
Valedictorian - Princeton ED
Salutatorian - Rutgers (surprisingly rejected from Harvard and Amherst, waitlisted at Columbia and UPenn, among others)
A few other top students - 2 to Columbia, 2 to UPenn (1 is not even in the top 10!), 2 to George Washington, USC, UConn Honors, NYU, Cornell

Sal: UChicago/Georgetown

Harvard

Going to Harvard

Sad to say, our Val is going to Florida Atlantic University…Sal will be at Pepperdine…I think in the past 30 years our HS has had 2 attend an Ivy League College…

My daughters school doesn’t send many to ivy leagues. Last year Val admitted and is attending Cornell.

2012
Val: Ohio State ( only school she applied to)
Sal: Naval Academy

3 (my daughter) admitted to Kenyon but chose full tuition scholarship to Ohio State

Rest of the top ten that I know of :
Ohio State
University of Buffalo

Small town southern public school:
Val: Auburn U
Sal: Duke, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Tulane (full scholarship), University of Alabama (full scholarship)

It’s so funny how the sal often goes to a better school. I wonder why.

@debategeek: I think it’s because the valedictorians tend to be people who put too much unbalanced focus on GPA, and not on other essentials of college admissions. The people who come just right behind them probably don’t have that same obsession.
