Valedictorian: Rejected from Berkeley, going to UCI or UCLA
Saludictorian: Spring 2014 Admit Berkeley

Last year he went to M.I.T. The year before it was Harvard (male). Year before that was Brown (female, the combined med school thing I think).

I am No. 2 in my class of about 450. I know the girl who is the 7 semester leader. She is probably the only person I can stand being ahead of me. Very good study partner at times. I chose Penn over Princeton. She is going to Yale, but I don’t know the entire deal with her other applications. I know we both hated Harvard and didn’t even think to apply. I know, at this point, where five other in the top 10 are going supposedly: No. 3 is going to Columbia, then the four others in which I am not totally sure of rank are going to Duke, Cornell, Michigan, and U. Chicago. I doubt I ever find out where everyone got accepted. My girlfriend No. 3 as a junior and is hoping to go to Penn, which was a tiny reason I picked Penn, simply because Princeton is such a wildcard no matter how good your stats are, and like me, she has no true hook. Our best hook is probably the reputation of our public school. Lots of students will be heading to top 25 schools, or will at least be accepted. There is a girl that is pretty smart but likely not top 20; she is heading to Cal Berkeley for soccer. I know a legacy that is probably going to Notre Dame and would not have gotten in otherwise, I’m almost certain.

Also, while I don’t think it matters post applications, there is still a chance I end up valedictorian, however, at our school there is no tradition of No. 1 giving a speech so it may just be a change when they read off the top 10, which is normally what they do at graduation. I got into my schools so frankly I don’t care but I guess it would be cool in the moment. I know the gap is not wide but it is hard to go for an “A+” in an AP class when college is decided. Otherwise, I don’t see her getting less than an “A” and we have the same classes. She is Asian and going to Yale for molecular biophysics and biochem. I am going to Penn for biophysics (basically same major). I simply did not like Yale. Maybe it was the weather but I couldn’t like it. I tried to. She tried to get me to go there and I felt bad when I did not even apply or take up any athletic considerations from the school. She also may minor in a fine art, which I think had a bit to do with her choice.

All I know is this year, because he is my friend.
MIT, Yale, Cornell, Brown, UPenn. Probably going to MIT, since they basically gave him a full ride, and he wants to study something in engineering.

I know where the valedictorian from last year went (University of Florida), but I don’t know where she got accepted.

I don’t know where ours is going but she got accepted to UVA (her safety school? Lol) and every Ivy she applied to (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, and UPenn). Our salutatorian is going to UChicago and some other people in the top 10 are going to Yale, Vassar, Georgetown, Tulane, MIT, UVA, etc.

My Val got rejected and waitlisted to every school she applied to with the exception of Uconn and quinnipiac. The same thing happened with our sal. They’re both doing gap years.

2013: Columbia U NY
2012: UIC
2011: UIC
2010: Loyola U Chicago (brother’s year)
2006: UChicago (sister’s year)

2013 - Colgate University
2012 - MIT

I’m valedictorian
Accepted: Berkeley, La, USC, Emory, and Notre Dame
Waitlisted: University of Pennsylvania
Rejected: dartmouth, stanford, princeton, swarthmore, and columbia.

I don’t know where I’m going. First choice is Notre Dame, but due to its high costs, I’m planning to go to Berkeley. I know my stats suck compared to everyone else’s here, but I’ve tried pretty darn hard. My parents never went to college, so I’d be a first-generation college student. My family doesn’t exactly have all of the money and power in the world either. lol. So, I’ve got some pretty limited resources, but I’ll try to make up for the slack in college.

2013: Harvard
2012: I don’t even remember who the valedictorian was
2011: He got rejected from MIT and all Ivy Leagues except Cornell, which is where he is now.

2013
- Ohio State (debating whether or not)
- Xavier (Maybe)
- Case Western Reserve (probably also a NO)
- Miami University of Ohio (Possibly a No, but he might go here even if he can’t afford.)
- Stanford University (Most likely No)
- University of Akron (Likely)
- Kent State University (Little expensive, but also Likely)

Ultimately, it seems that the top 2 students are going to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, Brown, MIT, Duke, and UPenn above all the other schools.

Our valedictorian is attending Northwestern. She’s my friend :)

@ericmeng Was that weighted or UW? Also how did you do on your SAT’s?
BTW congrats on getting into Princeton

The valedictorian (my sister) last year went to Wake Forest

2013: UCLA
2012: Georgetown

My school’s class of 2013 valedictorian: MIT (she got into Cambridge, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UMich Ann Arbor)
