To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

Our valedictorian last year got into Brown and Harvard. She ended up attending Harvard.

Brown

Val - Duke, UCB, Northwestern (was almost sure she would get into HYPSM, good friends, incredible person)
In the top 5:
Sal candidate 1: Harvard, Berkeley
Sal candidate 2: Yale, UPenn, MIT, UCB
Sal candidate 3: Princeton, Stanford, Williams, Amherst, basically swept everything but ivies
Sal candidate 4: Caltech, UCB

We had one smart URM kid get into Columbia, UPenn, and Cornell as well. Also had one more Yale acceptance, a Penn, multiple Cornell (4 i believe excluding already listed), and Brown, Rice, bleh. Something crazy like 24 UCB acceptances.

Meanwhile next school over has a kid who swept HYPSM, and 3 MIT, 2 stanford. Ridiculous.

Both schools are public socal.

My school is kind of flip flopped, the people who got into to the top universities (Northwestern, UWashington, Michigan, Notre Dame, UChicago, and even UIUC engineering) were not at all in the top 1% (out of 600) students.

Our school had 50 something UCB and 6 Regents lol. Our “valedictorian” (school doesn’t rank but she’s obviously the best) got into Harvard Yale Princeton Stanford MIT Cal Tech Berkeley Regents … didn’t get rejected from a single school AND she’s Asian

So late to the thread but…

2014: V: MIT S: Barnard
2013: V: Harvard S: Yale
2012: V: Harvard S: UCLA
2011: V: Stanford S: Berkeley

Our Valedictorian got into MIT and Berkeley Regents. Waitlisted at Cornell. Rejected at Stanford, Penn, Yale, Cal Poly SLO and UCLA. Going to MIT.
Our Saludictorian got into UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, and Barnard. Waitlisted to Harvard, Pomona, Penn and Brown. Going to Barnard.

3. Accepted to Berkeley Regents. Rejected from UCLA. Going to Berkeley.

3. Accepted to Berkeley Regents, UCLA, and Cal Poly SLO. Waitlisted to Yale, Columbia, and Cornell. Rejected from Stanford. **Going to Berkeley./b

3. Accepted to Air Force Academy, Cornell, Northwestern, Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, San Diego State. Rejected from Duke, Yale, Penn, Princeton, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Brown, and Tulane. Going to Air Force Academy.

6. Accepted to Stanford, Berkeley Regents, UCLA, CalTech, Cornell, MIT. Waitlisted at USC. Rejected from none. Going to Stanford.

7 (That’s me!!). Accepted to Penn, Berkeley Regents, UCLA, Tulane, Northeastern, San Diego State, U of Ediburgh, U of Leeds. Rejected from Northwestern, Cornell and Columbia. Going to UPenn :D

8. Accepted to Stanford, Cornell, Claremont McKenna, Berkeley, UCLA. Rejected from none. Going to Stanford.

9. Accepted to UC Riverside and Cal Poly SLO. Rejected to Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD. Going to Cal Poly SLO.

10. Accepted to Cal Poly SLO. Waitlisted to UCLA. Rejected from Berkeley. Going to Cal Poly SLO.

At least 8 people from my school are going to Berkeley, 2 to UCLA, 20+ to Cal Poly SLO, and 20+ to UC’s other than Berkeley/LA. Two people going Ivy (me [UPenn] and a random [Brown]) and only five people (the other three, Cornell), including me and the random, were admitted Ivy (although we did have two Stanford admits and an MIT admit). Our school did a little worse than last year, as we sent one student to each HYP.

He said his top 3 choices were (Princeton, Yale, Berea).

He was accepted to:

Brown
Stanford
Bowdoin
Berea
UVA
Duke

He Declined waitlist spot @ Yale and Princeton.

Finally, he decided to attend Berea.

Valedictorian CO2012 - Princeton
Valedictorian CO2013 - Stanford; Sal - Stanford
Valedictorian CO2014 - Stanford; Sal - UNC Chapel Hill

My school doesn’t do valedictorians, but students in the upper ten percent were accepted at MIT, CalTech, Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, and Rice among others.

Valedictorian for my school is going to Cornell. Last year’s went to Duke.

Last year’s went to Harvard. That’s all I know.

Val: UPenn
Sal: NYU Shanghai, full-tuition-merit
3rd: UNM, Regents Scholar
4th: USC, Stamps Scholar

My school valedictorian for this year is going to Duke. He was deciding between Duke, WashU, Brown, and Cornell.

My school salutatorian is going to WashU.

Last year: Brown (val), Penn (sal)
This year: a SUNY (val), Stanford (sal)

My high school’s class of 2014 had four valedictorians, and I know one of them really well. She’s going to The University of Pittsburgh, and I’m not sure where else she applied.

Valedictorian was accepted to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton (among others) and is going to Harvard. Also is a Gates Millennium Scholar.

My school’s valedictorian got accepted to University of Minnesota, University of Missouri - Kansas City and Kansas State University. Waitlisted at Washington University in St Louis. Didn’t get into a single school with holistic admissions (I’m not surprised at all - her attitude shined through in essays and the schools that don’t allow score choice probably weren’t pleased with how many times she retook tests). She’s attending UMKC because it’s the only school of the 3 that will let her be a member of the dance team without majoring in dance.

Val: Princeton
Sal: UPenn (w/ some kind of scholars award, I think that means merit money)
Both of them are amazing, so happy for them! The rest of the class of '15 was incredible though, with 4 people to Harvard and 1 to Yale and a handful of other ivies. So insane.

Val went to Penn.
Sal applied early to Yale and was rejected outright, went to Smith.

My son’s HS class does not have a sal or val named, just one student picked to speak (and everyone knows she was not the val). However, there were less than five who got into Ivies over the past ten years, and this year over 15 are going to Ivies plus many other top schools. Crazy overperformers.

(I hear you on “don’t have to major in dance but can be a member of the dance team”. My son has to minor in music to join any non-beginner performing groups, so he will take the minor.)

Val: ASU, Purdue, UWashington, Case Western, and probably a couple more. Attending UW
Sal: Whitman, UWashington. Attending UW.
Feel kinda sad for Val since he applied to Stanford, Princeton, MIT, and a bunch of others but didn’t get in. Sal didn’t really apply to many reach type schools except maybe UW Honors, but didn’t get in.
