Question 1: In terms of classes with lecture and lab/lecture and discussion, aka math 1a and math 1a discussion, and chem 1a and chem 1a lab, is there one grade for both lecture and lab/discussion? Or do lecture and lab/discussion get separate grades?

if it is one class, even if it has lecture and discussion sessions, you get one grade. Actually, grade is usually produced by the GSI teaching your discussion session, but under the supervision of the prof doing the lectures. Usually, there are guidelines and sometimes meetings between all the GSIs for a course to have as much consistency and fairness as possible.

Question 2: Do we take our exams in our lecture hall or discussion class?

Sometimes option c) - big courses may use some other large space, e.g. a gym, for exams. By late November, the locations will be posted on Bearfacts (under registration - final exam schedules)

Question 4: How is GPA calculated with -'s and +'s? Is a B- equal to a B+ on the gpa scale?
- and - do matter. The letter grade assigned is converted to points, which are multiplied by the number of units assessed for the class. these are added up and divided by the units you took in the semester to get a GPA. Basically, letters are 4 3 2 1 0 for A, B, C, D and F respectively. Add or subtract .3 for a + or -. However, A+ is still 4.0, no uplift to an A.
