Too many units?

JP: Actually let me see my schedule…

M, W - 8am-1pm, 7pm-9pm
Tues, Thurs - 9:45am-2pm
Friday - 11pm-2pm
Saturday - 10pm-12pm (soccer)

So its not really bad at all…altho I am sure my summer and winter intersessions will be hell classroom hours wise…

Laguna: If it wasn’t for me…we wouldn’t even have those 2 points when we lost 12-2…lol

burgler: oh precalc is mandatory for calc and well college algebra…i am only taking it for amatyc :D

charizard: actually I like math hw better…at least the right answers guarantee me an A…english is way too subjective for my comfort esp since I can’t afford to have a single B if I want to be competitive for the likes of top 25 schools…(Haas’s AVERAGE is 3.91)

the difficulty of english depends on the nature of the assignment. if it asks u to write on something really pathetically boring like scarlet letter, or some poem, it can be hell. but if it asks u to write a research or a creative or argumentative piece, i find it as an opportunity to show off ur brilliance. i think i went too far in being the genius in my last english class that my teacher recommended me to submit it to a honors conference to be published ina university.

math is so boring. it’s like counting the tiles on a bathroom wall or sitting in a corner staring blindly into space.

Well lets say you are in a different english class now and the teacher doesn’t appreciate your style of writing…what now? ;/

i believe nspeds once said…that its harder to get a 4.0 as a philos major than as an eng major…which i def agree with…

yeah I’m getting focked up big time right now

Trivia: That’s a horrible schedule for 23 units… Honestly.

M, W - 8am-1pm, 7pm-9pm
Tues, Thurs - 9:45am-2pm
Friday - 11pm-2pm
Saturday - 10pm-12pm (soccer)

You gotta add in time to drive to/from school. Time for lunch and dinner(mon/weds). Time for a couple of breaks. Time for clubs. Time to study(unless your teachers just happen to be so nice as to not give you any homework or a ciriculum that involves self-studying material). Without ECs, there’s a good shot that you’ll make it. Add in club hours inbetween your breaks… its going to be tough but I honestly don’t know you so I can’t say that you can’t do it… But… It aint going to be pretty…

I really hope your parents are backing you financially because with $3.00/gallon gas prices and hefty $6.00 fastfood bills. You’re going to need a good sized weekly expense budget(higher than the average student). Unless you work but i don’t see a 4.0 with that workload and a part-time job.

In our positions, its not always feasible to pack our own lunch because of the time it takes to prepare a decent meal(i like grilled chicken sandwiches and onion tatter tots for lunch, 30 minute preparation).

I’m just playing devil’s avocate because a bunch of Ws are going to hurt your transcript being that you’re probably a really bright and goal oriented student. My recommendation is to play the percentages. That kind of schedule and that kind of transcript is going to be on less than 1% of the students entering as a CCC transfer. You’re no longer competiting against kids from all over the country and all over the world. CCC students receive priority. Kick back a little, take the 15-17 unit heavy honors courseload(get a 4.0), do your internships, and participate in your clubs. You’ll still get in to UC Berkeley.

What are you talking about sauron? Math is insanely inspiring! I do Japanese homework in math class, check out the pretty girls in front of me and daydream for an hour and a half. I always leave math class with a broader perspect of the world, just like I would after finishing watching “The New World.”

i just realized we totally digressed from original question…

hmm so does anyone think privates will reject me due to the amount of units i have?

JP: usually i hang out at honors center everyday till 4:30-5…doing like absolutely nothing…lol. In fact, I haven’t touched my book once during the first three weeks of school. I always pick the ‘nicer’ teachers on ratemyprofessor so i guess that explains why the classes are so lenient thus far into the semester…

i am sincerely grateful for your advice but i feel our college is just too laid back. laguna goes to the same place as i do and he always tell me how easy my schedule is…and it really is…so far into the semester i have had around 4 hw and 2 open book quizzes…and thats about it…

and from your post, i can tell you are a really meticulous and organized person…to be honest, i have never thought about all those things. i guess i am fortunate enough that my parents allot me an unrestricted budget for personal expenses so despite majoring in finance, i don have a single clue on the value of money through a personal aspect…

Trivia, don’t suck at badminton again tomorrow or I’m finding a new partner

You were such a noob in badminton today.

***, You are, I got bumped up to intermediate

You still lost to me badly in singles…

And if you have any doubt, we can try again on tues :P

edit: alright, my friend here agreed to the challenge. we will have a singles match on tuesday and the winner gets 100. warren, prepare to pay up!

I’ll play you pong online. iVamos!

dude, that movie The New World is really boring.

be reasonable. math is not fun for ANYBODY. i think, if i’m not wrong, einstein hated math when he was young. can u imagine that/

I don’t like math, I just feel its an easy A…at least for me that is. English is too subjective for my liking (and too risky, I don’t want to put my 4.0 in the hands of a teacher who can grade either way on my essays). I know many potential 4.0 students who got owned by their 1a or 1c teachers…

I’m getting owned in 1b

argh

getting owned by calculus

@ my school, 1b is really unpopular…its basicly 1a then 1c…i don’t know anyone taking 1b right now…

Has anyone here played the touhou series? Those games are alot of fun to play, but you have to play them in Japanese. I recently hooked my pc up to the tv so I can play the games when I don’t feel like studying.

lol how did this thread get bumped up anyways…

I am seeing my counseling advisor tomorrow so I will see how she responds to the schedule…

And I will try to keep you guys informed at the end of this semester. So wish me luck…I’d need it :)

Touhou is a really fun series. To relive your stress, you should try playing it after your you finish hearing a lecture from your counselor that derides you for your laziness.
