VeryHappy, it may well be the same paint you used 12 years ago, but once it’s on the walls, it will start fading. If it’s from the same can, the paint will change over time as well. If you got a new can of it and matched on color rather than exact specs (some of my paint cans say how much of each tint to use), it may be slightly different.

My sister once painted her LR using a color that she mixed herself from a bunch of old stuff in the basement. Was half a wall short of what she needed, so she mixed more. And MATCHED. I bow in total awe (and hope she will come visit me this summer so I can actually finish the hallway bathroom’s mini-reno! She is also fabulous at tiling, crown moulding, etc.).

It’s not fading. It was the wrong color. I’m so mad at myself. I’m going to try to match the right color and paint over the boo-boo spots. It can’t be worse than what it is – and maybe I’ll get lucky. If not, I’ll have to repaint two entire rooms that I hadn’t counted on.

Not due to this, but due to life, I’m beginning to think the house is not going on the market this spring. Also, I got a new boss, effective this past Monday, so – while I’m still not happy; I’m waiting to see what this means – I’m not nearly as desperate as I was a few months ago. Financially, it still makes lots of sense to sell the house and downsize, but without the motivation of pure and abject misery, it’s going to take longer.

VH, I hope you get lucky with your paint problem (and your new boss).

If anyone needs inspiration to get started on a painting project Sherwin Williams has 40% off paints and stains this weekend.
