<p>My experience has been that, outside of Florida, most people (outside of academia) don’t easily distinguish between FSU and UF. I have relatives in NY who have asked me “that’s the Gators, right?” when the fact that I am going to FSU comes up. They are both widely perceived as big state football schools.</p>

<p>However, INSIDE of Florida, I would say that UF has an edge in perception, due to the USNWR rankings and the recent success of the UF football team.</p>
