Top Chef Questions

ya’ll are making me hungry!

Oh, Chedva, you’re right. It’s Ted!

Didn’t know he had his own show - just see him on Iron Chef and guest judge on Top Chef… think I’ll skip his show based on your recommendation.

Yes, the show is called “Food Detectives” (I had to look it up!). And don’t skip it just because of me, please! Your reaction may not match mine, and the content is worth watching.

My seventh grader is home sick and as a result I am spending too much time googling around on the computer.

On the Wiki site for top Chef there is a mention of a possible Top Chef Juniors competition in the works. Do any of you foodies have teenagers that love to cook?

I can’t stop rooting for Carla. Also like Josea and Fabio–food and personality.

Three cheers for Carla, Fabio, Hosea and (grudgingly) Stephan.

I heart Carla!

Carla cracks me up she started out sort of airy and fey and has now shown that she is this amazing talent. She used to remind me of an art teacher I used to know but now she has emerged as this gnarly meal making machine! I heart her too…but then so many of our tastes mirror one another’s Shrinkwrap ;)

Great final three! I’d be happy to see any of them win - yes, even Stefan. The man clearly has a great talent. And I wonder if he’s really as much of a @#$% as the producers want us to think. I don’t think we’re ever seeing what “really” happened on “reality” TV.

I loved Jacques Pepin at judge’s table! No matter how he felt about a particular dish, he always had something positive to say, and his critiques were so kind! Not quite what we’re used to, especially not from the Brit. Jacques is so comfortable with himself that he doesn’t find the need to be clever. Such a true gentleman.

The finale will certainly be fun, and with Emeril as the guest judge, I’d say southerner Carla has a minor edge - she won the Superbowl challenge with a gumbo, didn’t she?

Chevda- I agree with everything you said about Pepin and the idiot new judge. Pepin was wonderful, kind and knowledgeable. Actually all of the famous chefs were pretty nice, even about food they did not care for. Leah should have been gone before and I am glad she is gone now. Hosea is out of his league.

I think they had to manipulate things a bit last night not to send Stefan home. If seemed that he really deserved to go based on last night’s results. Seems they let past performances factor in a bit. If was fun to see him sweat a bit - he looked like he was going to faint when they started criticizing his food.

I really think they have to consider all of the history, because he is clearly a better chef the Leah. To have her in the final over him would make the show irrelevent ( imho).

I was happy that Fabio did well despite his injury. I think it will be a great finale!

What a relief to get rid of Leah. If only Hosea could have been dismissed as well. Jeff probably deserved to be there instead. I really like Stefan and suspect that he is just very self-confident, and deservedly so. I think everything he has cooked so far except the eel is something I would love to taste. Carla’s food seems like stuff I would really enjoy but I still find her exaggerated mannerisms irritating at times–though when she is being serious and not trying so hard to be quirky she comes off well. Fabio is so charming, even if very deliberately so–not as sure about his food all the time, but that chicken seemed wonderful last night. Hope his hand heals well.

“I think they had to manipulate things a bit last night not to send Stefan home”
Through the seasons they NEVER send a really strong contestant home based on one weak performance. I find the show entertaining, but you can pretty much peg at least 2 of the finalists on the first episode of each season. I am surprised Hosea is still there. His food has been weak.
I think Stefan will win, but I am rooting for Carla and Fabio. My favorite Fabio expression (which I try to now use whenever possible)
“Ima gonna win with monkeyass onna clam shell”

Leah was such a whinger and she just gave up on some of the quickfires, why would they struggle to keep Steven and then drop Jamie for some salty celery. Jamie should be there instead of Hosea.

I know, I know, producers think we give a darn about Hosea & Leah cheating on their SOs, but we don’t, it’s supposed to be about the food!

Told my husband last night while we were watching I forsee a great TV chef future of some kind for Fabio…he’s just a charmer and so very funny!

LOL @ “…monkeyass on a clam shell.” I think he could sell it too ;)

And agree if they keep Stefan, in spite of…, Jamie should not have been sent home for salty celery. Ariane was better imo than Leah even on a bad day and I am still miffed that they gave her the boot.

Notice that both Jamie and Ariane were kicked off in favour of keeping Leah, who has been annoying the entire time. Grrrr

I’m jumping on the bandwagon that thinks Hosea is out of his league. Fabio is such a doll and Carla just keeps on showing what she can do. Why did she (or the producers?) keep that hidden for so many episodes? I think it is good that Stefan found out that he is, in fact, fallible. I mourn Jeff’s disappearance. I thought he had real talent. I don’t miss Jamie. I guess I’m in the minority on that.
