I agree with you that they should be more forthcoming about their methodology but I don’t think they are just emailing subscribers. Considering the geographic distribution of the survey participants and that the vast majority of TIMES subscribers live in the UK it seems unlikely they are only asking subscribers. It’s also clear that the vast majority of survey respondents are academics while the vast majority of TIMES subscribers are presumably not.</p>
