I’m gonna assume it’s because RPI would still cost over $45k per year even with that scholarship. Great school, but RPI has one of the highest sticker prices in the country.
OP, where have you heard Stony Brook is not very good for electrical engineering? As an accredited program, if you do well, you will have every job or grad school opportunity available to you. If you like the school overall, go for it.
