Towers Housing

Well, you didn’t ask me, but I’ll throw in my .02. My daughter is a senior and we are from IL. She started as a freshman in the Apollo dorms (LEAD scholars) in a 4 person suite (2 in a bedroom sharing a bathroom. She then moved to another dorm (still in Apollo)that was apt. style. She didn’t want to live in the towers b/c they were too far from the rec center. Also, when she started, there was nothing on that side of campus. She is a hospitality major and has had an excellent experience. Professors were fine (never formed a bond with any one prof) Didn’t like that most of her moajor classes were at the Rosen campus (never moved there b/c too quiet and removed). Feels likes she actually learned something.

We did have to drive her down freshman year with a ton of stuff.

We have found cheap flights from Orlando to Chicago almost every time she wanted to come home (she flew in for the superbowl when the bears played (really badly) in it).

The Towers used to be the only dorm that has a 12 month lease (except for a 1 or 2 weeks?) So, be sure to check on that if your student is thinking of coming home for the summer - it would suck to try to find someone to sub-lease.

She rented a storage unit to store her stuff in for the summer.

She does have a car, but has never driven home - always flies or dad flies down and drives home with her.

Also, UCF has a requierment that every student take 9 hours of summer school. However, my daughter was able to get this waived - no problem.

If you have any other questions, PM me.
