He needs to check each college he wants to apply to for the following:
- What credit his AP scores will give at that college (not his current college).
- Whether the college includes AP credit (as determined by that college) for meeting the minimum number of credits to transfer.
Note that it is also possible that an AP score that counts for subject credit at his current college may not be accepted for subject credit at a college he wants to transfer to. For example, a student with a 3 on calculus AB may have gotten subject credit for calculus 1 at the current college, but may be missing subject credit for calculus 1 if the student transfers to a college that requires a 4 or higher on calculus AB to get subject credit for calculus 1.
