Just a note that if this student is very far accelerated, Purdue allows undergrads to take graduate level courses.
In which case he’d have even fewer valid reasons to want to transfer.
What happened this cycle with those schools ? If you didn’t get in, they’re unlikely again.
There’s great profs everywhere, including Purdue. That’s not a reason for transfer.
What exactly are the top ten unis? There’s no such thing. Doesn’t exist !!
Are they the top 10 US News thinks. Or Fortune, Forbes, Money, Niche or otherwise.
It’s all made up. I have my own top 10. Is it one of those ??
Maybe your country sees it differently but in my mind, Purdue is at worst on par with the others.
And all Ivies aren’t the same. Some urban some rural. Some colder than the other.
You know what will impact your transfer ? Your focus on it. Your apps will take time away from your academics and ECs. Who wants to befriend someone looking to leave on day one ? And not everyone takes one year transfers but some do.
But you are less likely to do well academically and socially with one foot out the door.
And going to a new school is tough socially too. Everyone has friends - but you.
Sounds to me like you have rank-itis.
I got news for you - Purdue is highly regarded and in math/data science areas, their respect is off the charts.
Good luck but looking from the outside, it seems a flawed plan.
Hopefully you take andvantage and become another world class Purdue alum.
If miserable I get it.
But in this case you are seeking to leave one for another that reputationally are truly equals in the areas of study.
Good luck.
