It’s interesting to see why these community colleges were selected. It’s interesting that there were no community colleges west of Houston included, and that there were three community colleges in Florida (but no associated 4-year colleges). Also, this was a truly coastal phenomenon, as no state that doesn’t hit an ocean/gulf had a 4-year or 2-year institution included. The real community college outlier to me is Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCC) as the other cc’s (except for the ones in Florida) are all either near a 4-year institution and/or are in major metro areas. I did not that MGCC does have an honors program. I don’t know if that’s common at most community colleges, or if it’s a common trait between the ones on this list.
