Transfer student applying 2 years after dropping out

Follow up question:
I took 3 classes in CC during those 2 years off, because A&P was required for the paramedic program. I got an A in A&P, but since I could not just take 1 class, I took a psych and a WGS class. I was working 60+ hours at the time, going to paramedic school, giving my all to A&P, doing clinicals (500+ hours over 6 months) and my personal life was in shambles (mental health and failing marriage). I ended up with a 3.1 GPA for that term. I left K College with a 3.9 so that is a dip.

Should I write in the “special circumstances” section of the common app the reasons why I did not give those classes my all and how it is not reflective of my academic ability but rather a result of the circumstances?

How can I phrase it if that is a good idea to do?

Thank you all for helping out

Carthage has generous merit scholarships for transfers, comparatively low tuition, a beautiful campus, and relatively low COL while still being commutable to Chicago. You should check them out. Based on the stats you list, I think you may qualify for merit $$ there.
