@PurpleTitan
Look the parents said no they don’t want the OP to do that. My parents said the same thing
@calliopecarol, and his parents (and your parents) are being short-sighted and unreasonable. Or they are letting their pride get in the way. In either case, it’s not a supportable stance.
Ask your parents why a gap year can’t be allowed.
UPDATE: I can’t wait for College Park’s reply anymore. I called the admissions office, and someone told me that I will not receive a reply until July.
The only options available right now are Clemson University, the University of Iowa, and UC Riverside.
-Because UC Riverside gave me a HUGE grant, it is the cheapest college to attend.
-University of Iowa has a great computer science program.
-Clemson University has a great career center and plenty of science activities and opportunities.
UPDATE: Everyone here made me feel so paranoid about paying for college when I shouldn’t have been. My parents said that they can afford to pay for my college education. (And they still do not want me to take a gap year.)
I would appreciate it if none of you asked me about my family’s income status or what occupations my parents have.
I will, however, leave one hint about my family’s wealth just to hopefully stop everyone from talking about “how I can’t afford this or that college”: My family loves collecting cars from sports car manufacturers that will not be named in this thread.
UPDATE: I have decided to drop UC Riverside from my list. (I didn’t officially do that yet. The reply deadline is on March 22.)
With that, I am going to choose between University of Iowa and Clemson University.
“My parents said that they can afford to pay for my college education.”
This is why we ask those questions. All too many students come to CC without any notion of what their families can truly afford. Many of those students end up without any affordable options on their lists. It is good that you were paranoid about the money for a while. Now you do know what is available for your education, and you will be attentive that the money is put to good use.
U of Iowa and Clemson are both very good options for you. You can choose between those using any criteria you want - weather, transportation, etc.
Wishing you all the best!
