I really don’t get why the OP has a problem, or why he would get dismissed from the UCSD. Failing the Basic Level exit exam does not constitute dismissal from the university. It even says this right off the Basic Level exit exam website:

“If you do not pass the Entry Level Writing Requirement, you will need to demonstrate a minimum proficiency in composition through course work. You can do this by enrolling in SDCC 1 during your first quarter of residence at UCSD, or as soon thereafter as space is available in the course. SDCC 1 is a Mesa College course taught at UCSD as part of a cooperative program with the San Diego Community College District. You must pass an examination at the end of the course to satisfy the Entry Level Writing”

Did the University actually tell you, you were dismissed?
