Transferring high schools [current HS has limited AP or advanced courses]

Hello,
Im a current rising sophomore at a neighbourhood high school that offers 5 APs. In the upcoming year, ill be taking 3 of them (AP csa, AP seminar, AP pre cal) so i was thinking about transferring to another high school that offers more AP classes (kinda selective and presitigious too). But i have heard that its really hard to transfer in junior year. I have transferred once in the second semester of my freshman year too. So im also afraid that its gonna hurt my chances of getting into a good college. At my current school, theres no more advanced classes that i can take anymore. But im also hesitant to make a decision. Please give me some advice on what to do. :>
Thank you!

What are the other two AP courses, what other subjects do you want to take AP level courses in, and can you take college courses in those subjects at a local college while in high school?

I attended a high school with not many more, but they were the more core / rigorous ones like English literature, calculus BC, US history, and foreign languages.

So the other twos are AP spanish and AP english language. I dont take Spanish langauge so i cant take that one. And AP english is only for seniors. Also im already taking classes at the local college too. Its just that i do not have any classes for junior year anymore.

What are you taking for English, science, history or social studies, foreign language, and/or art? What have you completed in each subject?

What does this mean?

Freshman year
Integrated math 3
English 3
Civics
Art
Us history
Physics
PE
2 years of language (both 1 and 2)

Im an international transfer student to a US high school. Thats why i have more credits in my freshman year.

Sophomore year
Im planning to take
AP csa
AP pre cal
AP seminar
Honors biology
Honors world studies
PE
Art

I took junior classes in my frshman year. It was a bit messed up because of transfer. Classes like integrated math 3 (advanced algrbra and trigonometry) and english 3 are taken in junior year in my school.

So can you proceed to English 4 with a plan to take additional English through the local community college during your senior year? Similar for math - does your school offer calculus or stats? Is there no math higher than precalculus? If not, look into community college and take either calc or stats. Can you continue with foreign language? Is a third level offered? It looks like you have not taken chemistry - so definitely take that. What other social studies classes are offered?

You should try to take all core classes each year. Max out what your school offers, if the class selection is limited. After that, supplement with community college.

So my school barely offers honor classes. English 4 is only for seniors according to my counselor. We do have dual credit but its only for seniors as well. In math, pre calculus is the highest class so ill look into dual credit. I cant continue the foreign language because it is not offered at my school. We have only 3 social studies. They are civics, US history, and world studies.

So i will try to take the college classes. Thank you for your advice! <3

So what has your counselor suggested you take?

She wants me to repeat the classes but i dont honestly want to. So classes like art, PE and most core subjects that i have taken will be repeated in my junior year. I am not sure if i can do college classes in my junior year but i will try to talk to her.

If they are truly the same classes you already took, you should not repeat them. Definitely try to take community college classes. That seems an odd suggestion from your counselor, to be honest. There is no benefit to repeating classes if you did well in them the first time.

I see. So transferring is not a good idea, right?

You can try, but from what you wrote above, it’s not something you can count on being able to do. One way or another, you need to plan for classes junior year. If you want to try to transfer, go ahead, But if it doesn’t work out, you need a plan B for your current school. We’re coming up on the new school year, so it’s time to get plans in place - even if that’s both a plan a and a plan b.

How does transferring work where you live?

In my town, kids can attend the HS of a neighboring town- but there is a fee associated with it. Cheaper than private school, but if you don’t attend in-district, you pay for it. You can attend the HS on the other side of town without a fee, but the district office needs to approve it (they don’t want every single female student at one school and all the males at the other; they need to make sure both HS’s are operating efficiently with a critical mass of students, etc.)

How would the logistics work and have you discussed your plan with your parents?

Any chance you can take Honors Chemistry instead of PE? Or did you take Chemistry Level 1 already?
You must not repeat classes you did well in because it’s a waste of time AND colleges will NOT like it.
So your choices are either taking Cac classes toward HS graduation (DE if you can) or transferring to the other school. What’s the process for either option? Is there a fee for either one?

In some places, 4 years of PE is required. So you might not necessarily be repeating this, just fulfilling a requirement.

So i have discussed with my parents and they want me to transfer too. Another high school that i found is in the same district so all i need to do is just submitting the transcripts, test scores and some other documents.
