Forgot to mention I’m also planning on taking the ACT and adding that to my application. Does that sound like a good idea?
UMD is truly test optional, they do not prioritize test scores so this may not be a good use of time unless you score very high easily.
@mwalla I agree about CC. If for some reason UMD will not take you for next year, go to MC (Montgomery College ) for a year and UMD will take you the following year with good grades without any problems. Also look into programs at UMD at Shady Grove. They may have less competition.
Your stats look strong for a transfer, especially with your high GPA and work experience! Since UMD values academic performance and involvement, continuing your volunteer work and securing the Fulbright opportunity (if possible) would strengthen your application. Also, consider taking a few more econ-related courses to show commitment to your intended major. If you haven’t already, reach out to UMD’s transfer admissions office to ensure you meet all the requirements. Best of luck—I think you have a solid chance!
