transferring to yale

Don’t scare paixdemonde away!
I transferred this year, and yes, indeed, the acceptance rate was 2.3%, which is not a lot… Still, I don’t know if my opinion is going to change, but it’s worth trying.

Just remember that they have to understand that your being at UC berkeley doesn’t make much sense when your being at Yale would.
Try not to criticize your school too much.

One other thing is that the spirit is very different: they don’t expect the same thing from a senior in high school than from a freshman or sophomore in college (it is plain, but think about it, I mean don’t try to fit to what you think they want you to be) and they don’t really want people who are extraordinary. One of their major concerns is “Is he or she going to adjust fast enough”, because wherever you end up transferring to, you will probably have no big orientation, no immediate dorm bonding and people as lost as you who just start talking and try to know if you are a potential friend, nobody will tell you that you needed to preregister in March for a class you thought no one would be interested in in september, and so on…

Applications are due about a month and half after the regular applications. Work on your essays, because they might get you in!
