Transportation from JFK to NYU

Take the trains. Taxi is super expensive and not worth it unless you have lots of luggage.

From JFK, follow the signs to get to the Airtrain. Buy a $7 dollar Metrocard. You will swipe it once, using up $5, to get into the AirTrain station. Get on the Airtrain bound for Jamaica Station and ride it there. Follow the signs to transfer to the subway. You will swipe your Metrocard again, using up your last $2, to get into the subway station. Follow the signs to get onto the E train bound for Manhattan/World Trade Center. You have a bit of ride ahead of you.

Stay on the E train until you get to the Lexington Avenue/53rd Street station. Get off here and follow the signs to transfer to the 6 train - it’s a bit of walking underground. You’ll want to get onto a local 6 train heading downtown (bound for Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall). Ride the 6 train to Astor Place. Get off there - you should be at 8 Street and 4th Avenue. Then you can get to whatever NYU building you want to, assuming you’re looking for a place in the Washington Square Park area.

Detailed information about the AirTrain came be found at the official website (Aviation). If you’ve never been to JFK Airport or NYC before, I highly suggest at least looking at the website.
