If you’re buying air through the cruise line, why not also use the cruise line’s transfer from airport to pier?

I use cabs all the time from SeaTac to downtown. Usually get in after rush hour so it only takes 30 minutes tops door to door.

I’m with barrons. Light rail will cost about $9, then taxi to the pier additional $10 or more. All this to save $25-$30 on cab fare. The price of two drinks on the cruise…three watered down ones if you’re lucky! Now it’s one thing if you have all day and want to play around with the transportation system, and love to plan every little detail. If you’re dying for that type of experience. But with what limited time you’ll have in Seattle before the boat leaves, why not take a quick and easy taxi to the pier, drop off your bags on the boat and go explore Seattle? If you’re that tight to save a little bit of money, you’re going to be in for a rude surprise on the cruise boat. Where drinks and soda cost a fortune, and they nickel and dime you (more like $5 and $10 you to death)!

Well, we do have all day. We arrive SeaTac at 9:40 AM and plan on only carry on luggages, one for each and may be a back pack. We have been traveling light for many years and it really pays to not carry too much. Great infor so far and we do not rule out taking a cab either.

I hope you guys have a great time and get to explore our more interesting sights. Besides just the pier, the Pike Place market is pretty interesting to visit. Let’s just hope it doesn’t rain on your one day here. Any time of the year, it could happen:(

The walk from the airport terminal to the light rail is about 1/4 mile, so you should factor that in. And it’s a pleasant ride but not exactly quick. Shuttle Express would take you all the way to the pier, but probably wouldn’t save you much over a cab for 3 people. There used to be airporter buses that served the big downtown hotels, cheaper than Shuttle Express. But I can’t find the link right now - something you might look for. If you got a bus to the Four Seasons hotel, you are right above the waterfront and could walk to the pier.

FauxNom, is the walking from the terminal to the light rail pretty easy? Since we arrive before 10 AM and we cannot board the ship until after 1 PM, time is not an issue. We can enjoy the sight of the city as well.

Be sure to check out the new music initiative.

Three hours to kill in downtown Seattle – we should all plan an itinerary for you :-)

You need to walk through the parking garage to get to the light rail station from the terminal at SeaTac. They’re all connected and you’re never out in the rain.

In terms of getting through downtown, once you get to the downtown area on the light rail, you can stay on the train while it goes through a tunnel to the Westlake Center station, or get off at the International Station and take a bus up 4th Ave. Bus 99 stops on the street by both stations. From the International Station, it takes around 15 minutes to go through downtown then loop back to Pier 66. Once you’re downtown the buses are free so you can jump off and back on.

If your luggage is not a problem, I used to walk to work near Pier 66 from Westlake Center. My route took me right through Pike Place Market and down an elevator to the waterfront. I think that it took me around 10 minutes.

Thank you all very much. I will report back after we are done with the trip.

I like to report back of our experience. We arrived SeaTac at around 10 AM and had breakfast at the airport. Each of us had a carry on, in addition my son had a back pack and my wife had a handbag that holds her purse and other small items. We left the airport at 11:45 AM. The walk to the Link Light Rail was a leisure 10 minutes walk from the parking garage. We took the 12 noon train which cost $2.75 each. We arrived at the International District Station after a little over half an hour. We walked across the street and waited about 15 minutes for Bus 99 which is free and arrived right in front of the Cruise Terminal at 1:15 PM. We did the reverse from the Cruise terminal back to SeaTac after the cruise.

Pro: Low cost, not crowded, enjoy a lot of Seattle scenery.

Con: Takes longer time, not recommended if you have heavy luggages.

I want to hear about the cruise too. I was in Bellingham yesterday and saw the Alaskan ferry. I’d love to see Alaska.

The Cruise was great with one exception: it took us over two hours to check in. This might be due to being the first Alaskan Cruise for Celebrity Infinity this season and the check in process was not well planned out. We visited Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria, beautiful scenery all around. The weather was great except a little rain in Juneau. The service in the Cruise ship was very good. We had a good time in the 7 days. Alaska was well worth seeing and visit.
