Travel question wedding in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) from Philly

It’s an early wedding. We went to a fabulous wedding in Boston…the cocktail hour was really great. They had lots of fruit drinks, plus mimosas and bloody Mary’s. This reception we went to was a true brunch…with stations for breakfast things like omelettes and waffles, and lunch stations for various soups and all sorts of delicious sandwiches.

Dancing followed the brunch…and yes, it was in the afternoon.

Like @deb922 we made a day trip out of it (we were invited to the night before event, and a pizza party the evening of the wedding but a lot later…but went only to the wedding).

It was really fun!

A Sunday brunch wedding in February is a choice. It will be interesting to travel in wedding clothes.

Here’s hoping it’s not a polar vortex!

Oh, I’m all about a mimosa. I guess it’s the cocktail hour vernacular.

Drinks during brunch is very civilized, not so much for breakfast.

At least they don’t have to pick out a gift, just a check.

We just did this, except the wedding was in Queens. Amtrak is great, our fare was very, very reasonable. Then taxi to the destination, or Uber.

Haha, there is actually a registry with actual gifts on it.

I’m sure for the Midwesterner’s benefit

Couples here all have registries but it’s really just for the bridal shower. I did get some actual gifts from my husbands family from western Massachusetts.

My niece didn’t really want gifts at her shower either. She wanted us to contribute for “experiences” which was money!

I’ve talked about it in the past.

Those experiences aren’t always experiences, many times they can just accept the money, with a portion of it going to the company, of course. Not a fan. While cash has always been given for weddings, I’ve never heard of giving money for a shower gift, even here.
