Frank and Eileen seems to be all the rage with upper end travelers. Too much for my budget.
Spanx makes an air essential line that’s really nice but it’s super expensive also.
I just traveled to my daughters. Wore athleta joggers, very comfortable and they didn’t wrinkle. But I thought I looked like a slob and not put together.
Just adding that I wore my new Hoka’s (first time buyer) to DC this past weekend. Wore them the entire time and no issues at all. And we walked quite a bit!!!
Loved them.
(Dx with planter fasciitis in January, so I’ve bought Vionics, Birkenstocks and Hokas since then and have been very pleased with all three brands.)
Hokas do have large soles but I was pleased to see many DC college students wearing them while running (as observed at traffic intersections waiting at crosswalks) and I spotted many worn by my age and younger (50’s) at the airport.
Frame has (expensive!) pull-on jeans called Jet Set. They hold you together pretty well, and are kind of a cross between leggings, spanx, and jeans. They are great for travel - comfy and no hardwear – plus they don’t stretch out. Not a bad item if you’re traveling light and want a pant to do it all - from sleeping in a plane to being kinda fashionable in town.
Not quite as comfy as sweats, but much more polished.
Athleta has a sale going on through today- they have lots of pants/legging options. I have a friend that likes Lou and Grey at Loft. And there’s loads of influencers on IG that will tell you their favorite travel clothes from Amazon!
I’ve never bought Frank and Eileen, I’m sure it’s nice but imo, pricey for what it is. I have a couple of the Spanx items and I just think they’re ok.
I own one pair of black Eddie Bauer departure pants that I picked up from Costco…maybe $20(?). It was great on my flights back and forth from Hawaii. They were much cheaper than my Athleta Brooklyn ankle pant. I liked them because I definitely wanted to wear pants because I think planes are “icky”. I was also going between cold/warm places and didn’t want to change in an airport bathroom. The departure pant is light weight and also washed and air-dried easily. Very happy with them.
I am more casual than a lot of folks here and really like REI Sahara convertible (zip off) pants… available in Petite, yay. They have a great front thigh pocket, perfect for my iphone mini.
The material is pretty thin, so when returning to Denver from Mexico in Feb, at the Denver ladies room I threw a cotton dress (in backpack) over the top. That helped keep me warm waiting or the airport parking shuttle, with just a fleece and windbreaker (and hat and gloves)
I love Vionics, but right now they aren’t making the shoe I’m looking for. So frustrating. They have dressy flats that are great for walking just not for the all day museum kind of walking.
Frank & Eileen must be soaking their clothing in gold, because I can’t fathom the price point (I’ve looked at their button up shirts) and I’m willing to pay more for good clothing but not that much!
I’m not a fan of the “travel set” craze. Too loose & pajama-y for me. For those who like it and don’t want to spend F&E prices, try Pact (they have “Airline” travel sets) or Haven Well Within. At a slightly higher price point is Cozy Earth. For less flowy clothing that’s comfortable for travel, I like Vuori. I don’t care for Athleta’s travel pants as most of them are pleated and tapered at the ankle, which is no bueno for ladies with hips.
I go back and forth with Hokas because they are so clown shoe looking on my size 10 feet, but I may end up pulling the trigger before my mid-April trip to Europe. They are all the rage with the Gen Zer’s right now. My daughter loves hers but somehow they look very cool on a 20-year old while making me look like I’m wearing a red nose, on my way to entertain kids at a birthday party. At least Hoka has some less colorful options.
I hadn’t really heard of the term “travel set” so had to look up specifically though I figured what it would be. I think I actually see them in my feed a lot. Kind of reminds me of an upgrade of old matchy matchy “jogging suits”!
When I am willing to splurge occasionally, I’ll shop at a local small shop. One employee/owner, everything curated to be fair trade labor (almost all US)…”slow fashion”. But even her high end stuff is half the price of Frank and Eileen.
