Treatment for a pinched nerve in the neck

Singersmom thanks for the pointer towards Esther Gokhale. Very nice youtube video and the traction tips in the one on how to sleep are very helpful. Many thanks!

Thank you so much! You describe the symptoms I’ve had since last Fall - they’ve done heart tests, stomach tests, the works and still haven’t figured it out. I found out today from my pain mgmt dr. that the MRI showed pinched nerves at C5, left and right. I’m going to talk to my cardiologist NOT to do the heart cath he has scheduled. Thanks, again.

bvrlych - I hope you get the help needed to relieve yourself of pain. (though I would listen to your cardiologist)

Update on me. Horrible pain for 3 weeks (yes, I even tried sleeping while standing). week 4-6, there was tremendous improvement. At week six I felt good enough to fly to Chicago to pick up S1 for spring break and drive back home with him. When I was getting out of the airport bus I turned at the last moment and my forehead didn’t quite clear the door. My neck snapped back and I am starting all over again. GRRRRR This time, however, I convinced my doctor to help me get on the front end of it with the steriod pack. With the kids away at school, my poor husband has to take the full brunt of my B*%&#Y attitude.

Ice seems to bring the best relief and so does the inversion table (I only go to a 60 degree incline - too chicken to go farther)

Today I saw a doctor about getting the ESI injection into my spine. I am a little nervous about this…any success stories to pass on to me?

I had great success with the ESI injections. My doc uses sedation, so you go to sleep and wake up with no memory of the injection. I had 18 months of relief. :)
